Yes, according to the National Trading Card Day website , that's all you have to do.

UPDATE: The NTCD website checklist page now shows images of 9 of the cards to be given away. Click the link below to see an image of one of the cards. Click the link above to see the NTCD webpage with all 9 images.

One peculiarity--the NTCD website says "The set will feature more than 50 cards...", but so far, I've counted only 48 on the checklist. But then the player list is also subject to change.

    FAQs from the NTCD website...

    Questions from collectors and fans

Q: Do I have to pay for the cards?
A: No, the retailers are offering the card sets for free in hopes that you’ll enjoy your visit to the store and come back again.

    Q: Where can I participate?
A: Check back on the Web site to find the store nearest you that will be participating in National Trading Card Day. If there isn’t a store near you, you can nominate a store by sending an email to [email protected]. Mass merchant chains will not be participating so please only nominate card or hobby shops, or other smaller retail outlets that offer cards, or should.

Q: Can I get the cards without going anywhere on April 3?
    A: No.

Q: Can I buy the cards somehow?
A: Only after the event on the secondary market. The cards will not be sold by retailers or available before April 3.

Q: What will the cards be worth?
A: Secondary market values are always difficult to predict.

Q: What will the set look like?
A: Most of the card designs will be kept secret to increase the anticipation factor, but the checklist of players is available on main front page of this Web site.

Q: How will the set be packaged?
A: Each company’s cards will be in their own pack. Those packs will then be packaged into one unit, along with the how-to-collect booklet.

That brings up a real good point, Mike. Perhaps some cards shops got a very limited supply of these NTCD cards. Then I could understand why they would give them only to little kids. On the other hand, do you think some card shops are holding back some NTCD cards so that they could sell them later? Limiting NTCD cards only to little kids and then selling "leftover" NTCD cards afterwards is not a good way to increase customer loyalty. And nowhere in the NTCD website could I find any text limiting NTCD cards to a specific age group. Please share your NTCD experiences here...

Looks like the UD basketball is probably the one to get.

I'm interested in how many of you plan to make a trip for this. I'd like to but the closest shop to me will take about an hour to get to.

I guess a lot of sellers aren't giving them out and are just selling them on ebay because there are a lot on there starting at $9.99.....

I saw a Lebron going for $5 On ebay
