well, for what it's worth, I apologize for the attitude of the priest. There are a lot of people is leadership roles of churches that do not want to answer any hard questions because they think it is a bad thing. I actually like being asked hard questions. It causes me to re-look at scripture and be able to know why I believe what I believe.
As for what happens when we die. We might just be talking about two sides of the same coin. I feel that when it comes to salvation, the faith I have in what happens with me is as good as knowing. Yeah, people can say we won't actually "know" but for me, it is just an extention of faith.
If you care to, ask me anything you want to know or have questions about. I'm not about getting mad or upset at tough questions. Feel free to do that here or via PM.

I would agree that there is no scriptural evidence for infant baptism and as such, I do not believe that it is the baptism referred to in scripture. I am not saying it is "wrong" to baptize an infant, just that it doesn't possess the same power or authority that a baptism of choice does.
For what it is worth historically, the first recorded infant baptism did not take place until around 500 AD, roughly 500 years after the formation of the church.

Hey Ensberg, I may have overlooked it, but I don't recall you giving an answer on god's stance on war.
Sorry if I missed it, but haven't seen it addressed.
Thanks

alcohol is allowed but drunkeness is prohibited. As for drugs, anything that alters your state of mind is prohibited.

so pain reliever like oxycontin or ADD medicine like ritalin would also be prohibited? would you ever give your child ritalin if he was diagnosed with ADD?

personally I don't have an issue with medication. I view it as different then things for recreation.
As for ritalin, no I would not, but that has nothing to do with my religious belief.

in the Old Testament there were wars sanctioned by God so it is fair to say that God isn't opposed to any/all war. However, since the Old Testament I don't believe there has been an instance where God ordained war.
so basically, I don't think God is opposed to all war but I do think any war entered into now should only be done after immense consideration that the end is worth the means in life lost
