I've been baptized, but I'm an atheist. What's going to happen to me?

I think ANYONE who tells you what happens when you die should be committed, NO ONE knows unless your dead

I may have been unclear, but this is precisely what I'm referring to. What does a physial ceremony have to do with loving God? Can't the spiritual awakening that supposedly occurs in baptism happen by one's self in "the closet" that Jesus referred to?

    Pertaining to baptism ^^^^^

everyone is entitled to their opinion. I for one would hate to live with uncertainty about death.

if you don't mind me asking, were you baptized as an infant or was it a choice you made later on?

the response to the thief on the cross is simply that Jesus was still alive on this earth. While he was here, he brought people back from the dead, healed people, etc. Given that, he had the ability to offer salvation to anyone he chose to.
If you read the book of Acts and following, it is hard to argue against baptism (though I know many do)

We're talking about God here, so Jesus no longer has the ability to give salvation without baptism? To which verses in Acts are you referring? My parents believe you may be mixing the baptism of the Holy Spirit with water baptism.

ensberg - What is your opinion on infant baptism now that you mention it? I will give you mine and say that scripturally, I see no precedance for it and am against it. It seems that baptism must be a choice made by an individual and obviously an infant is not able to do that. I am interested in hearing your opinion on the subject though.

I was told by a priest I was going to hell because I asked to many questions he couldn't answer so I never went to church after that one time. HOW can you say you know what happens after we die? you can have faith but you can not know till you actually die.
