it takes mcdyess off the payroll and billups has a smaller contract so it lowers the cap

Yes it does. You're taxed on end of the year payroll so it saves them money in the long haul.

Billups contract will be very bad for them come 2 years from now. AI would give them 20 million off for the cap come next season, now they only get less than 10 million off but have to pay a contract that increases for atleast 3 years

You know what that means, Dan? Detroit is officially in the running for the LeBron sweepstakes

Haha....that's EXACTLY what that means. Oh, wouldn't it be ironic. I can just see it now....all of Dan's hatred would instantly disappear, and he would become the greatest player to ever touch a basketball.
Too bad LeBron will NEVER go to Detroit. They're just wasting their time if they really think they'd have a chance.

I dont know how this move makes Denver a championship contender.
In NBA, to become a championship contender, you need a big man who can 20-10 every night.
Ex: Lakers: Gasol & Bynum
Spurs: Duncan
Houston: Yao
Boston: KG
NO: David West & Chandler
If they kept Camby,
Camby, Nene & K-Mart wouldnt be too shabby but they got rid of Camby, and their Frontcourt is way too thin.
With Billups, Denver will be around 6,7,8 spots in the west at best.
But With Detroit, Joe Dumars is a genius
Look, they dont have to get Lebron
There are just way way too many FAs who are going to be there in 2010.
Bosh, Ginobili, Wade, Dirk, Ray Allen, Michael Redd etc etc
I personally dont like how Denver went for this trade.
I think it would have been the best if they got one of these two things
1. Good big man ($8-10 mil a yr) + experienced but old PG (5-8 mil)
2. Overpaid big man (+10 mil a yr) + young PG (who is still on draft salary)
I personally think Denver should have offered AI to Cavs for Mo Williams+Ben Wallace
That would have been a lot better fit for the Nuggets. Way much better move than getting Billups + McDyess (whose contract will be bought off?)
In that case it would be Billups = AI which makes no sense at all.
