How fast can you run a mile?

On most days, I can now run a mile consistently in just under ten minutes without too much effort. When I started running in the Spring, I couldn't even do a mile in twelve; fourteen was even a bit of a chore.

I've been trying to work up to the respectable 8 minute mile for almost two months now, but I am still not there yet...even on a good day, I can get about 2/3 of the way there before my legs turn to jello and my heart rate gets uncomfortably high. : /

The last timed mile I ran was 6:07...of course that was about 10 years ago. I was in great shape then, the only people that could beat me in my school were some of the cross country runners. Now, I'd have to have a large animal with sharp teeth chasing me to even come close to making it a mile.

Speedwise, I definitely have a ways to go before I catch up with you guys, whether current or past marks. How about endurance? I run about 3-5 miles on the treadmill each time I go to the Y, running a mile or two at a time with some breaks for rest and weightlifting. I am not sure how endurance numbers compare. A lot of people get bored if they have to run on a treadmill that long, so it's harder to measure, but I just listen to music and/or daydream while running.

When I was wrestling in High School, I was able to do a sub 6 minute mile, and I was the heavyweight wrestler on the team.

Now, I think it would be a sub 6 hour mile :)

Depends, i usually run a mile in about 6 minutes or so. I say it depends, becuase if i have a competition coming up, i try to get it under 6 or so. I usually run a mile and a half every other night, and I do that in about 9 1/2 minutes
