I set a new personal record last night - a mile in 8:37. Not much, but at least I am getting better gradually. :)

I went to lacrosse conditioning today and we had to run a timed mile. It was the first one I had run in a long time, so I was pretty happy with 6:19.

6-7 minutes is fast regardless of age. I read somewhere that once a person gets under 8 minutes for a mile, it is universally considered a good cardio shape.
It's probably a little different for males and females as well. No female has been recorded under 4 minutes for a mile; a Russian woman once tested 4:12, and that is the world record for women.

The last instance I ran a timed mile was 2 years ago at 6:37.
I'm just not built for longer distances. I have stocky legs, and have excelled at power/speed stuff more so than this type of running.

I run everyday and I ran in highschool. I achieved my best my junior year. Work on posture and breathing and you would be amazed at how easy running is.
Mile-5min (best is a 4:44)
2miles-10min 15 sec
3miles-16min 45sec
I have done one marathon which i completed in 4hours and change only walking once for about 10 minutes halfway through.

My fastest time in the mile was my senior year in high school (4:31). There isn't a mile in college, as they adopt the metric system and run the 1,500 meters. I ran that a handful of times with my best being a 4:13 (approximately 4:30 mile). My best time in the 800 (half mile) in college was 2:00.3. I was mostly a 2 miler in high school and steeplechaser in college.
I haven't raced anything under 2 miles in about 8 years, and want to keep it that way. Anything 2 miles and under is just too damn fast for me anymore! It's all about endurance!
