This Really Annoyed Me....
Ok,
So yesterday I go over to my local card shop. I have a $20 on me and was looking to snag a couple packs to break. But honestly, i had no idea on what i was looking to get.
So i walk in, and the owner is talking to a couple other guys at the counter, (discussing boxes and what not).
I then go over and pick up a pack of 08-09 Topps Hardwood. I flip it over to review the odds of pulls, and i then hear the owner call over to me "hey, no pack searchin', kid".
Now, I don't know this man personally, just from the 10 times max. i've ever been to his shop, as a friendly customer.
So i give him a nod and put that pack down (avoiding any further problems). And I pick up a pack of 07-08 Hot Prospects.
And apparently, he thought i was searching AGAIN, just because i held it in my hand, deciding what to purchase!
He doesn't say anything the next couple minutes, so i pick up a pack of reg. 08-09 Topps Series 1.
THIS time, he actually bothers to get up, come from behind the desk, and bring a little sign he has saying in highlighted letters "No Pack Searching".
Naturally mad, i say "Hey, i'm not searchin man" and he goes "mhm, sure".
I say "I'm deciding what i want to purchase from you, sir"..
my reply...........
"mhm, of all the packs you've picked up and put back, tough luck"
So now i'm PO'd, right?
This guy's old(er).
So i end up getting 1 pack of Hardwood.
$7 for it
So i say thanks a lot, and shut the door.
I get into the car, just to find a Mike Conley base parallel /299 and a rookie. WOW
i felt like going back in and showing him, saying "How'd my search go?"
What do you think?

If he doesn't want people pack searching, he shouldn't have the packs out from behind the counter...just my .02

exactally.
if he didn't want me to (which i wasn't at all, anyway)
he should keep open boxes behind his counter.
well, lemme tell you.
he lost a customer (just for a little while that is).

I can see both sides, maybe should've asked him to see the box- so you can look at the odds and such.
Still though, that guy sounds mean.

Yeah, I guess it's probably better to say your intentions with all the dishonest people out there - maybe he's had theft problems too, as how long does it take to rip off a pack? 2 seconds? He still could've handled it alot better though....

yea, it was so frustrating.
i should've walked away empty-handed.
but, ya know, everyone wants to break a pack, lol ;)
as far as i know, he has a security camera, and keeps all his good cards behind glass (in a case). so, open boxes w/ packs aren't a big deal.
don't know what got into him, haha
