New RNC chair plans 'off the hook' campaign
RNC chair plans 'off the hook' campaign
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele says his party is going to launch an "off the hook" public relations campaign that will update the GOP’s image by translating it to "urban-suburban hip-hop settings."
Can I weep now? The only thing that would make this more lame is if it was an old white guy saying this.
It seems RNC leadership still doesn't realize the best thing they could do for the party is a drastic return to actual Conservatism.

I recall seeing a poll of Republican voters in which 40% said the path the party should follow would be to be "more like Sarah Palin." Is it any wonder they were so soundly defeated in the last election? I'd feel ashamed if I were you, OPT.

Why should I feel ashamed?

Sarah Palin is an example of American narcissism. I want my leaders to be just like me so I will vote for someone who is not uptodate on any current topics. People in positions of power should be more intelligent than the average American. That is not asking much. Sarah Palin seems to not care that she didn't know basic facts. This is very scary to me.

I agree, especially with the bolded statement.

Yes, we've seen what happens when people vote for the dumb-as-concrete, bloodthirsty snake-in-the-grass you can have a beer with. If you were dying of a brain tumor, would you want such a person to operate on you, and sneer at the pointy-headed elitist who spent 12 years busting their chops studying medicine and 20 years practicing it? If you were being audited by the IRS, would you want such a person to help you organize your financial documents, and sneer at the pointy-headed elitist who succeeded in business school and worked their way up in a reputable business? No? So why do you want somebody who's stupid, spiteful and proud of it representing you in government instead of someone who knows what they're doing?
The unspoken message of politicians labeling their opponents "elitist" is this: This (expletive)ing (racial/ethnic slur) thinks he's better than you. Are y'all gonna let him get away with it?

so instead we vote for people who speak well because apparently that equals intelligence? Candidates have their speeches written for them and have can answers to questions to make them sound the way they want to regardless of it that is what they really believe. So, tell me again why we should vote for the one who "appears" smart?
oh and by the way, the "dumb-as-concrete" president you are referring to has a degree from yale. might not be as dumb as you think.

Could have fooled me. But he fooled millions of people like you into thinking he was a good ol' boy from Texas when in fact he was one of the very northeastern elitists whose daddy got him all his breaks in life that he railed against.

hey, he didn't fool me. just because i voted for him doesn't mean I was fooled. Unfortunately you won't see anyone make it to presidential candidate without being some degree of elitist and owing their status to others.

I think Bush was an intelligent man, but I find it offensive that he pandered to the uneducated. I find it offensive that he used fear to violate civil liberities and start wars.
