    Truth about Racism

I am kind of fed up with the way racism is perceived in this country and I found this article which I think everyone should read:

There is still racism existing in todays society but not at the levels the media and people who make a comfortable living off of it like Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al would like you to believe. You can make claims today that every skin color is a victim if you really are trying to create something. I'm so sick of people using the race card anymore to try getting their way when its clearly not a factor in any outcome I could just puke. I'm also sick of people who are afraid to speak up because its not politically correct. Say whats on your mind or get back in your hole.

The author is still racist because he didnt vote for Obama, I assume.

I'm a racist because I'm white and my family must have owned slaves because we're white.

    Sarcasm is fun. haha.

But really, the racism thing has now switched from people being racist against a skin color, to people assuming someone is racist. I'm going to start calling them "race assumists". Racism is almost gone, almost I said. But "race assumism" is getting really bad.

I'm tired of the discussion of ethnicity and sports. ESPN is always doing specials about african-american coaches or players and the lack of recognition for these people. I think it was 2 years ago that ESPN did a special on minorities and sports. The reason minoirities exist is because we still recognize it. I'm not saying racism or speration of ethinicites only exist because of this, I've witnessed racist acts in todays day and age first hand, but the only way for it to become extinct is to not recognize the differences. Not only with sports, but there are all-black colleges, frats, scholarships; and this is perfectly acceptable. What if there were all "white" insitiutions like this, would that be "racist", a seperation of ethnicities? So why is it ok one way, but not the other?

I might be taking a giant leap here and piss some people off, but oh well...
I'm in the military and I don't think there is a bigger mixed population than this. And honestly, the most racist acts that I have encountered are African Americans towards caucasions. I won't get into specifics, but it's staggering in correlation to racism of caucasions to african americans.

    Just my perception...

About the whole sports thing, I'm 22 years old, and for as long as I can remember the HUGE majority in my 2 favorite sports (football and basketball) were black athletes. Also, im my 22 years I've heard over and over that there is racism against minorities in sports, and when I was younger I thought, "I've never had anyone be mean to me because I'm white", haha. I thought they meant white people were the minority. I was like 8.

most black institutions were started at a time when there were no other options...there were plenty of white institutions that didn't allow blacks in...so should we eliminate the institutions that used to be all white? And you don't have to be black to go to a black school...they aren't all-black, they are just traditionally black

redgone- in your opinion, should minority only things (scholarships, miss america, etc.) ever be done away with or should they be kept?

One thing that really ticks me off about the race discussion in sports is how people talk about a small percentage of black players in baseball and others sports. But they fail to mention the disproportionately large percentage of blacks in basketball and football. Only 12.4% of Americans are black, but I'm sure the percentage of blacks in the NBA and NFL are quite a bit higher than that. So apparently, the small percentage of blacks in other sports is not because blacks choose to play basketball or football, but because they're being excluded...
