Rookies of the year

Who do you think can take rookie of the year?? If the regular season would end right now, who would win? Id like to hear thoughts, reasons, ideas on why your favorite rookie this year will win.

I think it's going to come down to Wheeler, Mason, Versteeg, or Ryan. If the voting goes anything like last year, the goalie that gets his team into the playoffs won't make the final ballot. ;)

I think it's far and away Mason right now. He's kept his team in tons of games that frankly the Jackets maybe didnt belong in. If Brassard were healthy, I think he and Mason would have been run away 1-2. The first half of the season was basically the Brassard and Mason shows, winning 3 straight rookies of the month. Also, Voracek has been in the running a couple times too.

Gonna have to say Mason is going to take it. The biggest difference between mason and price is the shut outs and what mason has done for his team. I don't think any rookie has had as big of a impact on their team this year like mason has. Last year Price had pretty good numbers with (41 GP, 24-12-3 record, 3 shutouts, .920 SV% and a 2.56 GAA), But Mason is as good if not better in almost all of them to date. (41GP, 23-14-3 record, 7 shutouts, .919 SV%, 2.19 GAA). Like I said no one has had a bigger impact on their team this year then Mason

i think mason will win, but i'm not so sure doughty isn't a close second. if the jackets get to the playoffs, i can't argue with mason. but doughty leads all rookies in ice time and plays both power play and penalty kill. boston is loaded and wheeler is on the 2nd and 3rd lines most of the time. same with chicago and versteeg. ryan has been good in the second half and if he closes strong he could push as well.
but watching doughty every night, i think he's the real deal. he's being considered for the 2010 Canada Olympic team already at 19, and that's saying something.

I think there are a solid 4 that should be considered (Mason, Wheeler, Ryan, Doughty). I would mention Verteeg too but his play has seemingly slowed a bit as of late. Right now my vote would go to either Mason or Wheeler as I think they have had the biggest impact on their teams (not to say Doughty hasnt been good...but the Kings have not been)...With that said Im going with Mason. Cant argue the numbers.

I would go with mason but ryan can not be discounted as well either if he keeps making his push toward the last part of the season.

Theres only two options IMO. Mason or Doughty.

Mason stole the starting job from Leclaire who is a very good goaltender (underrated as heck). Hes at 7 shutouts as a rookie, leading the NHL.

Doughty...my nickname for him is god. Watch him play. He skates the puck coast to coast and makes things happen. he usually leads the kings players in ice time AS A ROOKIE! This kid is amazing. So glad we got him over Bogosian
