boyle was converted to defense for a bit. he can play all five player positions on the ice. he's a smart player but he really needs to use his size more. i like purcell but i LOVE boyle.
again if he goes, look for news of lombardi getting shoes thrown at his head

yeah, i do like that about boyle. you can't teach size, and he has that. he's played all over the ice, and that's good too.
the way the kings are made up right now, it seems to me we need a few more guys who can make plays. we only have a couple of guys that can really score, and really no one but kopitar is consistent.
it seems to me that purcell has that scoring touch. o'sullivan had it in juniors and in the minors, but it didn't really show up with the kings. he improved his defense and showed flashes offensively, but he never really was that 30+ goal guy.
boyle is at 9-12-21 over 56 games between the kings and monarchs
purcell is at 19-32-51 in 63 games. scoring isn't everything, but it's what we need most.
boyle went 31-31 last year in manchester in 70 games, so he had a good year.
purcell went 25-58 in 67 games.
to me, last year they were even. boyle has the size, scored a few more goals and can play all over.
purcell is a playmaker with scoring touch.
but this year purcell has played better both in manchester and with the kings. hopefully they don't have to trade either one. but i don't think you can blame lombardi for calling up purcell over boyle. he's just played better this year.

well i think the kings should keep purcell and boyle and find that scoring in the offseason. williams should help, you guys think frolov is good( barf), and maybe if we can get kovalchuk then there goes the scoring.

we lost tonight because of quick. tonight is why he isn't the guy. he gives up too many soft goals. at least 2 were soft tonight and it cost them at least 1 point.
he was good for the first 10 minutes and then gave away a goal and he was done for the night. if you're going to be a tight-checking team, you can't have your goalie give away freebies.
i say go get kovalchuk and either trade for a goalie or sign khabibulin to a 1-2 year deal. that will give time to see if any of the young guys can hack it.
btw, frolov was the best king tonight by far.

ersberg is the exact same as quick. they both can look great but give up soft goals all the time. khabibulin will let guys like doughty and johnson take more risks and push the play. he's not what he once was, but look at the hawks this season. same kind of team as the kings. both teams are young, but they have experience in net.
he's 17-5-5 with a 2.37 and .924 save ptg.
huet is 19-13 with a 2.42 and .913 save ptg
quick is 16-11 with a 2.60 and .909
ersberg is 8-9 with a 2.60 and .897
notice the save percentages. that's a lot of goals over the year and the kings can't afford to give up those goals because they don't have the scoring.

if he's healthy and plays like he did the last time he was healthy, he's exactly what we need (other than kovalchuk and khabibulin :)
