on the sharks it would have to be Joe Thornton......maybe not in the playoffs but normally he plays a very good offensive game. I consider him one of the top 10 offensive players in th league

WOW, to be honest I consider him to be one of the most overrated players in the league. He's huge and does nothing, not to mention he stinks in the playoffs, and has no leadership presence.

You forgot Hossa as well. He was a huge asset for the Red Wings during the regular season. And contributed what he could during the Playoffs, even though he hasn't been a Wings for as long as those other guys has been.Last edited by tboculosis; 06-07-2009 at 12:20 AM.

Personally I think he gets way too much credit during the regular season, and far too much criticism in the postseason. He is an excellent playmaker. The problem is that he has never been great at putting the puck in the net. Without another superstar on the team to take the pressure off of him, he is very easy to defend, specifically in a head to head 7 game series. Not to mention Nabakov giving the team next to no help in net, its a very poorly build playoff team. Put Thornton with another legit star and he'll put up points in the playoffs. Keep him around Cheechoo and Marleau and he'll continue to be a non factor.

Talent-wise, Ales Hemsky is the best player on the Oilers. He has all the skills and ability to be a perennial 100 point scorer. The city of Edmonton is just waiting for him to take that next step from a high potential great player to a superstar. Too bad he's too similar to Alex Kovalev. He can make all-world plays and dominate a game single-handedly one day, and then completely invisible the next.
However, last year the best player on the Oilers was Dwayne Roloson, hands down. No question about it.

Oh yea, as for the Devils, it's Parise. He's 24, hardworking and will easily break every franchise record.
Brodeur is still the best goalie in the game, but he's also 37, and having an elite goalie is not nearly as important to team success as it used to be in the old NHL. In fact since the lockout, Giguere is/was the only elite goalie to make the Finals.

for Chicago I would have to say it's Toews. Good all around player at both ends of the ice. Mature beyond his years for 21. Hopefully he'll wear the 'C' for a long time in Chicago.
