Another Post Office DC Rant - You Will Not Believe It!

First, I want to start off this thread saying this is NOT a rant about SCF members. So if you feel I have pointed a finger at you....sorry..I am NOT pointing my finger at you. And I am NOT calling out anybody in this thread.

For the second time in the last week I have had problems with mail being delivered to my apartment complex. There are six complexes and each houses 12 apartments. The mail is delivered to LOCKED boxes next to the office. Each apartment is given one key only. That way if a key is lost, the lock is changed immediately. We have been here for over a year and have NOT lost our key.

Here is the problem or should I say problems:

Right now I have two trades that are lingering because the Post Office shows they were delivered (delivery confirmation) and I have NOT received the packages.

    ...and the most current problems:

Last Friday I received a PWE (I know....that's another complaint for another thread) and the PWE had a tear at one end.

My first question was: why would the Post Office deliver an open envelope without putting it in one of their special envelopes stating they had received the PWE that way.

And, of course, I was wondering how the four cards could have been put in a SMALL PWE, with top loaders, when the opening at the end of the envelope is about the size of the card itself. (But that is another subject, and yes it is in dispute).

Now...today (Friday), I was expecting a package (with delivery confirmation) from a SCF member and did not get it. I checked with the Post Office and was told the package was out for delivery, but our Postman was already here this morning. As I was sitting here pouting (yeah, grown men do that when they don't get what they want!), a neighbor knocked on my door.

Guess what....SHE had MY package! It was put in her box by mistake????

I called the Post Office. They DO NOT like complaints I can tell you that. Their thing was “you got the package, so what's the problem?”

Just wanted to rant for a few. Thanks for reading.

oh man, i would go straight there and complain. Maybe have a talk with the mailperson who goes to your house. Tell them that their job is to have everyone get their packages.

Wow, atleast you got your package though, would've stunk if you didnt, i got a package with DC on it a week ago, except....IT WASNT MINE! it was to an address like 10 minutes away from me, and the address wasnt even close to resembling mine, which made DC in this case pointless

Actually i never tell the comunity to use it, insurance WITH DC would be the way to go, DC is worthless to me, unless something seems shaddy and you want to cover yourself, i did that once, it helped for sure!

I've never told anyone to use DC. I don't think it's something the staff stresses at all, to be honest. I know that we require proof of delivery if there's a trade issue, but DC doesn't do much more than a PO receipt, when it comes to disputes...

I do know that years ago I had a dispute with a eBayer and PayPal.

I had "proof" (receipt) that the package was sent, but PayPal says that did not prove I sent THE package. lol...what does it prove then?

Yeah, DC won't prove that either. That's the thing - there's really no difference except for cost. The ONLY positive for DC is that you sometimes feel like the person receiving the package is less likely to say they never received. But on the whole, it's nothing special.

Yes, I hate DC. It's expensive and doesn't really do anything. I don't want to make things more complicated BUT.....

I will ask newer members (less than 50-60 feedback and who have not been members for a year or more) to send DC. Just because it's more likely that they have to hand the package to the person at the counter. For vets or for small trades, a receipt is proof enough.

Shipping is too expensive as it is. Who needs to pay extra for no more service?

I tell people not to use it. They always want me to pay extra or something for it, but I tell them it doesn't even do ANYTHING except allow the PO to make money on something that doesn't work.
