I would prefer it, would make it more of a hobby again instead of gambling

Yeah i would, if the base sets were bigger. Then you would have more player selection.

Agreed. I would still collect for my Colts PC, and use the cards for training camps, etc.

I started collecting in 1974 when I was 7 years old. Topps Football. No baseball. Back then if I had an extra Staubach and my buddy had an extra no-name player, we just traded the Staubach for the player. It was simple. A 528 card set, a players TRUE rookie card came out after their first year PLAYING in the NFL(sometimes after they had played a year or two), where you got OL & DL palyers cards, etc. You looked forward to see what the cards would look like when they came out every year, and it was great fun putting together a set. I wish they still did this as I really could care less for g/u ot auto cards or inserts for that matter. My wife loves the new cards especially the 2006 Donruss Classics. I would prefer card companies, there should only be ONE(1) who produces football like back in the day and just put out a big set that one could buy packs or boxes to put together one. That being said, I wouldn't mind doing the 2009 Upper Deck Philadelphia Football set.

GilbertArenas0 you are son on with evrything you have said in this topic!

I agree with what's being said but say for example AP has 7 big 1/1 RC's. They will always carry value because truthfully there are alot of 1/1's (plates, manufactured patches, logo shields, tags, etc. However, the big 1/1 are the logo shields and the big cards of AP are the 1/1 logo shield from Exquisite, SPA, Ultiamte, etc that sell for thousands. There are more BGS or PSA 10 Montana RC's then say a true 1/1 RC of AP that sells for so much. So it goes both ways. That is why the true 1/1 high-end RC's will always hold value if the player performs. Even regular RC's from say SPA, etc where 999 are made they are popular so they hold value.

True, but its the same logo (probably event used) in a different card. As another SCF member described, if a company or different companies produce multiple 1/1's of one player they aren't really that. And is condition important when a card is a 1/1 or numbered to 99? Condition has always been a important part of the hobby but is it for high end limited stuff? I don't collect it so I was just wondering what those who were fans of high end stuff thought?

Yes I would, that was the fun before high-end products, greed, and only worrying about pulling GU/autos and throwing the rest out the window came into play.

Yes I would and I agree with this post.

If its a deceased HOF'er auto or a GU/auto of a HOF'er w/ amazing patches I can see condition not being as important.

I'm exactly the same way. I'd go from paying a few thousand for something that is Mint or Gem Mint to not wanting it at all if it isn't.
