they have probably noticed and are happy that somebody cares enough to make a bland 1 color jersey card into a 3 or 4 color logo card.

Yeah, I don't think that they're probably happy about it, I just think that they don't care. Once the cases are paid for and shipped from their warehouse, it seems like they could care less about what happens to their cards.

its funny that they say that.
ive listed in person autos in the past and then had the auctions cancelled because someone emailed them saying they were fake.
they pick and choose, like its been said, these guys pay huge fees so ebay makes their money and turns the other cheek

Your best bet is to get a local newspaper to write about it. Then if the article turns out good it might get some publicity and some bigger type of media would take interest?
However the answer is along the lines you would expect it to be. Large companies like Ebay, with the dominating position on the market, can afford the badwill this is creating soley because there is no competition, Ebay is #1.

I can see why eBay wouldn't want to get involved. That being said, it's really a shame that these clowns are destroying so many Matt Ryan and Adrian Peterson SPAs. Over half of the Matt Ryan SPAs on eBay right now are "Reebok" logos. Give me a freaking break.

Upper Deck allowed a collector to photograph every patch card that went out in 08-09 The Cup hockey. He is working on assembling a database of patch images, and deciding on the best way to provide this information to collectors. The biggest fear is making the database 100% public, as then there would be fake eBay auctions and trade listings on sites such as this, so still some details to be worked out.
UD tried encasing swatches inside cards (06-07 Ice) and collectors hated them. We want to touch, feel, and view the swatches unobstructed. And, not to mention, patch cards are all different thickness and texture, and encasing them is a nightmare by itself. The picture library seems to be the way to go, but managing it without creating an entirely new wave of fraud is going to be extremely difficult.
In the meantime, I think that most of us experienced collectors know how to spot a "fake" in an auction. Generally you see the same traits - hidden bidder ID's, hidden feedback, several "logo" patch cards hidden in a mess of $2 jersey card auctions - just enough to make the others seem legit. And utilizing sites like this is also a great tool, as I've rarely seen a great looking fake where someone didn't have a scan of the original card in pack-fresh state. Really, someone out there has a pic of every AP card every pulled and displayed, and folks like Zinger22 and ShoelessJoeJackson have to reinvent thier eBay identities pretty regularly :)

just curious--if i listed a card on ebay, and somebody put on an altered card, doesn't that affect the price i would get for mine? would someone have a case against ebay for allowing fakes to devalue their cards? any cause for legal action? call your local ambulance chaser, if they smell money, you just might get some action.

Ok, so how does ebay explain a card being #'d 84/99 as a single color, then being resold has a logo patch, when the card has the same serial #!, its is clear as day? You dont need to be a genius to figure that out!! Somethin shady is goin on, and im no PI... I mean ™™™, these people claiming they are working, when really they aint doin sh!t... they just blow this off time and time again, why? cause its paddin there pockets thats why... Its such a joke! Theyre making more and more money off the same cards, over and over! These are high end pieces that majority would make there way into private collections, and rarely see the light of the day, instead the same card gets altered and resold, and resold, and resold... earning ebay and paypal 3-4x what they would have made initially... Now you can see why they dont want to fix it! These guys are paying enormous ebay and paypal fees, on these altered items, and ebay and paypal are smilin all the way to the bank!

For real though I had proven a 1/1 sold of my Jackson auto rookie logo from 04 ultimate was claimed not received yet the same guy sold it weeks later and they said just because it says 1/1 does not mean it really is LMAO
