Disliked two things about his speech.
His indirect attack on Leroy Smith. Why invite him, just to diss him?
What was the point of him dissing the organization?
Doesn't matter I guess.

Wow. . . Wojnarowski obviously has a grudge against Jordan. I saw the headlines on yahoo at first and read the article and thought, wow how sad Jordan made a fool of himself with a hateful speech.
Then I decided to actually watch the speech and it was completely different than how the writer made it out to be.
Jordan called out all of those people to THANK them for helping him become what he became as a basketball player. And of course there were jabs and trash talk, but that's just how a competitive person talks.
The speech was not hateful or spiteful in anyway. I don't get what Wojnarowski was watching. Has he even ever played basketball?? It's ironic that he is talking about Jordan being bitter when he seems the most bitter of all. Don't believe everything people put in print I guess.
I guess after this whole thing the person that lost my respect was Wojnarowski and not Jordan. . .

The Leroy Smith thing was not to dis him, if you listen carefully, he was trying to thank him for being "another log" that made his fire greater, same thing with the coach who choose Smith over him, Dean Smith, etc. etc. He presented it in his joking way.
As for the organization thing, Jordan was referencing Jerry Klause; the two of them has had their run-ins. Klause was very much responsible for building a championship team around Jordan. Anyway, but the point of the organization thing was that Jordan wants to emphasize that the players make the game what it is.
Klause wants to claim that the organization wins championships (meaning that he can build a championship team, and the organization deserves the most credit for such an acheivement). Jordan stressed that it is the players (if you watch the speech again, you'll notice he mention "players" several times during that part) who deserve the most credit, though the organization has some part in it. I agree with Jordan here because an organization can make the best team on paper, but if the players do not give it their all, then that team cannot succeed.
The players are the one who put their blood, sweat, tears to make the game what it was and for any organization (management) to discredit or belittle that is not right. That was Jordan's general point.
Again I see nothing wrong with that.

I unfortunately don't have the fastest computer so I only went by the article and thought Jordan was a jerk. I guess if you watch it it's not that bad so at least I don't have to think too badly of him. I'll have to check it out later.

The media will always find somethin to criticize people over... if you liked Jordan as a player, you could care less whats some idiot media reporter has to say about him or what he said! MJ is legend, the best of the best... who cares what someone "thinks" about what he said... i mean seriously, get a clue... everyone has there own opinions, doesnt make them true by anymeans!

Jeebus, Tarheelsnipe, and jammingjames put it perfectly. Mike will ALWAYS be competitive, thats what made him who he is and thats what he will be forever. Besides, hes MICHAEL JORDAN. There will NEVER be another one like him, he can say whatever the **** he wants. If you knew who mike is and how he carries himself, nothing about that speech would have seemed negative he was simply being mike. Most of the "negative" things he said were actually indirect thank yous to those people. Read tarheelsnipes post and then his sig, cant put it better than that.

I read the article, then I watched the vid on youtube. I thought the speech was great. It was good natured trash talking. He even prefaced his comments about Bryon Russell with "he's a nice guy; I hate to do this to him". MJ's attitude was very grateful, giving credit to others (e.g. the UNC guys, his family, etc). I have never been a big supporter of MJ, but the yahoo article sounds like the guy has a grudge against MJ or something.

I found MJ's speech to be very inspirational, comical, and enjoyable. He talked about his competitive nature, and I really enjoyed it. Idk why anybody would think that his speech went downhill?
