Habs1901 - That's not a bad idea, when its raining... I'll have to use it. Any advise when Canada Post just for no reason whatsoever decides to break your package?

Thanks to habs1901 for sticking up for their mail person. I work for Canada Post and I take great care in delivering the mail to my customers. Most of the carriers I know are the same way. There are people there who don't care as much as they should. However, if you're shipping a package in the mail be aware that the mail is going through a tonne of machinery. Sorters to be exact. THat's where your mail is getting wrecked. Canada Post is trying to mechanize the process and it's costing the customer. It's not people in most cases doing the damage. In terms of the rain. Deal with it. Protect your mail with a plastic bag or team bag. It's an element the carrier has to deal with and you as a sender need to deal with it too. We can't individually wrap everything you send to protect it from the rain. YOU DO IT. It's your investment. We deliver your package that you send the way you send it. You want to protect your mail more??? Complain to your local MP about the Post Office taking work away and giving it to machines that press and chew up your mail. If you do have a problem with a delivery, complain about it. I'd love to see all the noncaring idiots who do the wrong things fired for their actions. BUT FOLLOW UP ON IT. I've never seen a carrier break something on purpose. I'm not saying there are not people who are idiots that way, but again, complain about it and follow up on it. Before complaining about the mail carriers, complain about the Corporation and the changes they've made first. A person sorting the mail is not gonna chew up or destroy your letter/ package like machinery will. And who wouldn't send a tracking number or insurance on a $100 package??? I send tracking on anything $75 and over. Mistakes do happen. Speaking of mistakes, I wonder how many of the items are misaddressed by senders?? They are sent to the wrong address at the senders fault where the dishonest person living there decides to keep the package. Who's fault is that?? Probably the carriers again...........

You know something..... when I first signed up on here, I had a typeo in my address. (N3X instead of N3C in the postal code).
I think I was 20 or 25 trades in before I noticed on one of the envelopes I recived that it was wrong.
Despite a wrong postal code, the post office never once didn't deliver the package to me.
I'm not sure how things are packaged in some of the horror stories I've read on here..... but penny sleave / top loader / team bag / wrapped in paper (usualy the eBay recipt, or a copy of the TM page on here) / bubble mailer..... and I've never had a complaint from someone receiving my packages.
