They could.....but I think it would suck to be paying someone $23 million to sit on the bench and do nothing. I'd imagine they'd at least want to try and get something out of him, if at all possible.

Although $23 million is a lot....it'd be tough for other teams to bite at a contract like that.

Trade Rip/Tayshaun, there contracts equal $22-$23 million i believe, it also gives BG the starting SG position, put TMac at the SF position for the season, Will Bynum becomes the 6th man, besides if it doesnt work out, its not like the Pistons were going anywhere good this season anyhow

Man, if they unload TMac and Yao in the offseason, they'll have a TON of salary cap room to work with. Houston is a big market too.

It's going to be an exciting off-season with some of the names on the block. A lot of teams will have new looks next year.

Rockets may keep Tmac. Being that Yao comes off the books as well so they'll have alot of room to work with

if yao is a free agent this off season then i think they should trade tmac for some good young talent or draft picks and let yao become a free agent so they would have some cap room. then try to go out and sign one or 2 of the big names that are gonna be free agents. they already have some nice talent and if they can add 1 or 2 of the big names and get some young talent for tmac they would be sitting real pretty for the future.

Anyone think the Suns trading Alando Tucker, then waiving Jason Hart was to free up space for McGrady? I hope so, only if the Suns have to give up a couple scrubs.

That's the problem....T-Mac has the biggest contract in the NBA....so Phoenix couldn't get him for a couple scrubs. They'd have to give Houston higher priced contracts in return for the trade to work.

Ya I'd be PO'ed if the Suns gave up somebody like Amare for him.
The Thunder could probably afford him!

Looking at salaries, a legit possible option could be for Miami to trade Jermaine O'Neal to Houston for T-Mac's expiring contract. Their contracts are basically even ($23.2 Million-$22.9 Million), so that could be an option for Miami, if they want to free up a ton of cap space in the off-season....

Jermaine O'neal is still a legit player, if the Heat do that they are throwing in the towel for the rest of the year.
I think the Thunder have the most available cap room, something like $20mil. OKC should trade Etan Thomas(the largest contract on the team) and another decent player like Sefolosha for McGrady.
    Westbrook/Durant/Mcgrady/Green/Kristic = sick

I agree, JO is still a solid player....but if I were the Heat and I had the option to move him for T-Mac's contract, and in return add a guy through FA like Bosh or Amare to go with Wade, I'd get rid of O'Neal in a heartbeat.

He'd be a good fit in OKC though, I agree with you on that one.
