I wouldn't be surprised if alcohol sales are suspended in that arena for awhile. And then when sales resume, look for a limit of only 1 alcoholic beverage per customer, smaller cups and an earlier cutoff time (some, if not all, arenas currently cut off alcohol sales at the beginning of the 4th quarter).

Gotta give props to Artest and O'Neal for giving that puffball, Hispanic gangster a good beatdown when he came onto the court after the players got out of the crowd...
Ben Wallace over-reacted big time. Artest didn't foul him THAT hard. He went for a hard block and his arm came down on Big Ben's shoulder. Luckily Artest controlled himself to not start a major fiasco on the court with the other team..
Piston's fans should be very ashamed, and hopefully some arrests are made. Unfortunately for the players, especially Artest and Stephen Jackson, they'll be seeing substantial suspension I suppose. Well, Mr. Stern, how would you like being pelted with a bunch of junk when you're minding your own business? They better take that into effect. In my opinion, the only one deserving of a suspension is Ben Wallace for what he did to Artest. I can smell a 2 game suspension coming for him.

I dont understand why the cop almost mased Artest, and I did not see mase anywhere else. I guess defending yourself when fans run on the court and challenge to fight you is worse then dumping stuff on coaches as they walk through the tunnell
I dont know what it was about this fight but It made me a Pacers fan and a Pistons hater

Well, if they look past suspending most of the Pacers for going into the stands, Sjax probably deserves a suspension as well (just started beating on random people, lol).

:hot: prepares for flame :hot:
I see that no one is defending the Pistons, and I'm not going to say that they are innocent but even though I feel the fans that got involved are complete asses, I still don't see why you would run up to the fan and knock him in the head. Pistons fans at games are generally well behaved, so don't go saying all of this hearsay about how we have no respect just because a few idiots are drunk, where there is alcohol readily available right outside of the stands in the lobby area.
2nd How many of you would be upset with a foul with :45 seconds left when your down be 15 in a very emotional matchup like Ben Wallace*raises hand* Now maybe shoving Artest wasn't right but, I would probably see 9/10 people manage to get a T in his situation.
I feel that the Pacers players should have just gone into the locker room and let everyone chill, I mean..... come on, leave this $hit to the security to handle you don't go up and just punch a fan, no matter what they do. You let security escort the fan out. All that you are asking for is to enrage more fans. Right now this is probably the biggest rivalry in the NBA so use your head, fans love their players in Detroit, the Pistons are like a god here.
I feel that Ron Artest should have a 10 game suspension, no matter who started it, you don't enter the stands. The same with many other Pacers players, but more like 4 games for them. Jermaine O'Neal is lucky if he and Ron Artest don't get jail time for punching the one fan courtside, who showed no real intent to attack eiter player. Ben Wallace should get a 5 game suspension for starting the brawl. Lastly, the NBA should just waive off the suspensions for the players that left the bench for this unusual situation.
An eye for an eye is not the way to handle life.

"I still don't see why you would run up to the fan and knock him in the head."
1) They came onto the court
2) They were going after players
3) They were probably drunk

I'm talking about the first fan that Artest went up to, there was no need for that, he should left security to handle it. After that all hell just broke loose obviously.

They should definitely charge the man in the gray sweater (he threw the sucker punch on Jones), the man in the blue jersey w/ the hat one (trying to bear hug Artest then threw several sucker punches. I think this is the guy that originally threw the cup at Artest). Artest, Oneal, & Jones will get suspended for going up into the stands, but Artest & Oneal will not get in trouble punking the two over weight guys that came onto the court.
Oneal hit that guy with a one hitter quitter. This incident is very image for the NBA. Daivd Stern will hand out multiple suspension, fines, and new rules & regulation for security at courtside.
I was glued to my TV watching this altercation on every sporting channel. It was like I was watching a Tyson & Holyfield fight.Last edited by nuttynelly; 11-20-2004 at 12:58 PM.
