For the rest of the year for Wallace is a bit harsh, don't you think jon593? I remember O'neal and Miller a few years back only got three games a piece for throwing punches at eachother.

That was great - I remember that. Had Shaq landed his punch, Miller wouldn't have had a face!

Teach them a lesson? They have more injured players than they do suspended ones.

Yes, because of Artest, Jackson and O'neal they are in a big time hole. They can then ask themselves, was it worth it to go into the stands to beat up some assenine fans who threw soda. Maybe that will open the eyes of the rest of the morons in the league to control themselves.

The Local 4 Detroit channel is reporting the following suspension lengths:

    Ben: 4 games
    Ron Artest: 30 games
    Jackson & O'Neal: 20 games.

    Got it from another forum.

this is ridiculous... if thats the case make the postons forfeit the rest of the season because of the fans, or make them close the doors and all the games from now on will be played without fans there

the thing that worries me the most are all the people commenting on this situation have no idea what it is like to play sports... the people that do that i have seen comment on it, Barkley, and Bill Walton have agreed that it was fan provoked and they hope the NBA sees this..

john - my question to you is, you said artest doesnt deserve to be in the league etc. because of emotional problems... so ben hit first, rodman obviously had emotional problems, yet you have no problem with them? it doesnt make any sense.. i think they should all get 10 games all the way around.. ben, artest, o'neal, and jackson... i dont think however it should be put in a way the pacers should have to forfeit games as that is not the way the NBA SHOULD operate.... i just wish some of these lawyers and hot shots will take into consideration the stupidity of the detroit fans when they try for legal crap... of course, you know stuff will be filed as the lawyers are always hurting for money

Ok, maybe i overreacted by saying Artest should be banned. My bad. That situation made me angry the other night. I realize that most people commenting never played professional sports but it doesn't give them an excuse to blow their top. If Ron Artest can keep his cool with a 280 lb Ben Wallace shoving him and trying to get at him then why can't he keep his cool when one fan throws a cup of soda at him? No excuses for the players in this situation. None.

About the forfeiting of games thing, I only said it about the Pacers was because they had 3 players involved and would be more effected.

His cool was blown because of an accumulation of events - I think he would have gone after Ben when Wallace threw the towel at him, but various teammates were holding him down.

ron artest is a complete dumbass
we all no all the problems he has been in......he inst even commited to his team.......he asked for a month off of basketball to promote some rap cd.

ron artest started the whole thng by taking some cheap shot when there up by 15......if u ask me ben wallace handled himself great.

if i was him i woulda beat the ™™™™ out of artest.

as for the fans of detroit.....they did make the matters worse....but the fans didnt run on to the court the p[layers ran into the stands........who cares if the pacers got stuff thrown at them

and there is no way the pacers are better than the psitons...

ron artest is a sorry excuse of a player and always has been.
jermaine oneal in mind didnt desrve an indeffinat suspenseion.
and stephen jackson just went crazy and punched out everyone in the building

    pacers= bad organzitiation.
