That's fair, but why put a huge amount you know you're never going to get?
Let's say you and a friend go to a garage sale. At that garage sale is a tea cup. A normal, everyday tea cup. On that tea cup is an asking price of $4000.
Now, I'm not going to assume you are going to walk up to the owner and say he's ridiculous (though you might), much like no one here is messaging the guy directly and telling him it's a ridiculous price.
However,
I will assume once you left, you'd look at your friend and say something along the lines of, "did you see that $4000 tea cup?" and the two of you would probably share a laugh.
This is no different.
No one said it was "worth" $13k. I just happened to read the whole thread.
So there's that.
You're right, to a degree. But I have to say what gives anyone the right to tell others to not comment on something that is out in public for everyone to see? We're not talking about something taboo here, like race or a disfigurement of some sort. We're talking about the price of a hockey card. If he's perfectly fine holding onto it until he gets $50k, that is his choice and he has every right to make it.
At the same time, it's completely within my rights to think he's crazy for it, speculate that he's just showing it off and has no intention of ever selling it, wonder why someone would do that and publicly say something about it. I have every right in the world to say I think that's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over priced and I have every right to say I think he should have taken the $13k and I have every right to say it looks to me as though he's just showing it off.
To say I'm "jealous" for saying these things is slightly insulting (especially since we're talking about Crosby here).
In short, he has every right to ask whatever he wants and I have every right to laugh about it with others who feel the same way. Before people come in here saying, "It's his card, it's his right" I wish they would think.
Do any of you really believe we think it's not his right to ask whatever he wants?
Do any of you think we're really being "insulting" on this one? (admittedly, there was a thread about a destroyed Bobby Clarke RC that bordered on insulting in some spots)
If it's his right to put his own price on the card and that's his price, do you really think a few people saying it's way to highly priced is going to affect him in any way?
Every time one of these threads pops up, it's only a few posts before someone runs in with, "STOP CRITICIZING! IT'S HIS RIGHT TO ASK WHATEVER HE WANTS!"
That argument is only valid until one realizes you're asking everyone else to waive their right to comment on it.
So in short if he has the right to ask any price, I have the right to comment on that price.

Somebody has been offered $13K for that 2nd Patch? Seriously?
Two Things:
1. Somebody is telling Porkies
2. Somebody is not an astute seller.
More than likely ......Boaf

We're not criticizing him. We're calling him delusional, foolish, obtuse, insane, or just plain stupid, and based on the evidence at hand we're perfectly within our right to do it.
Looks like a duck, sounds like a duck......
It's important to know that ownership of something does NOT give you the right to become a complete tool. You are still bound by conventional societal norms and expected behaviour.Last edited by Phoenix; 01-16-2012 at 06:06 PM.

I dealt with Dany in person before, been to his house, saw a small sample of is massive Crosby collection and was floored.
He`s a very busy architecht, dosent mind holding is cards till he gets the price he wants.
I dont think is store fee`s are starving him.

1) I'm not American.
2) I don't have a sound enough understanding of the United States political situation to make any assumptions.
3) And most important.....who put him there?
As an aside, it's these passive attitudes that I see here (It's his card blah blah blah) that are causing so many issues these days.

I do laugh and pass on by, but sometimes a brief commentary adds to the levity of the situation. Let me have my jollies.

What floors me is the lack of a sense of humor that so many possess. I get a howl out of sellers asking for the Moon for a card, and an additional roar of laughter for the fools that pay the price.
Anytime some of you want to pull your head's out and have a laugh with the rest of us, give it a try, it won't burn down your house.
