The fact is: She was FAMOUS. Everyday heroes are not. Despite her downfall over the last half of her life, the joy she provided to everyone during the first half will always surpass the negative. Her talents were "once in a lifetime", and every bit worthy of celebrating.

Why should she be honored like this though? Because she could sing? I understand she had an addiction, but because of her choices, she passed away and her daughter if she isn't already will probably head down the same path. Her life shouldn't be celebrated anymore than anyone elses.

She should be honoured like this because there is a group of people that want to honour her. It has all to do with her FAME, not what made her famous. That is just the way the world works.

If I am not mistaken, most policemen and firemen get honoured by those that serve with them, just as most veterans do. More people happen to know her so she gets honoured in the way seen. FWIW, I think the flag lowering was a bit much.

Whenever somebody dies weather it be a junkie on a street corner to a soldier, to a businessman, to a famous singer it a sad day for whoever loved them. Let the dead rest in peace no matter who they are.

Why because they speak their mind and some people take offense to it! You seem to get on a lot of threads and try to cause issues and IMO that would be under that rule trolling! I say let her RIP she has no more demons to bother her!

Who are you I use this site to trade and sometimes get in a convo , but some of these comments are just heartless and sad .. people make mistakes but some people act like this is a perfect world , but to speak on someone who is no longer here in that manner is truly rude and unacceptable especially for someone who hasn't hurt anyone

She was a simple singer who chose her path to destruction and decay, so why mourn someone choice in life they could have changed all the while 33,000 children die preventable deaths everyday and no one gives that a second thought. That is what is truly sad and pathetic about the world today
