Not counting the sportsking and the other where you buy only 1 1/1. How rare is this LOL. The only surprise is what guy you get... and the cut auto are not always great in these.

Jersey cards are pretty much obsolete every sport. If it doesn't have an auto on it or has sick swatch, it won't be worth much of anything. Even low numbered stuff doesn't have much of a market. I think it's only a matter of time before products get rid of jersey cards altogether since 90% of them are absolute duds and most people just try to get rid of them for dirt cheap.

First it was adding serial numbers to produce exclusivity, then jersey swatches, then multi colored jersey swatches, then patches, them multi colored patches, then emblems, then laundry tags. All this with serial numbered exclusivity as the cherry on top.
So how will the card companies respond to the oversaturated market? Like they've done in the past, they will introduce the next "big thing". Due to the law of diminishing returns, every new hot trend needs to out shine the last hook.
I envision swatches that are authenticated using molecular biology techniques to contain the sweat, blood and tears (etc) of the player depicted on the card. DNA samples can be confirmed microarray chips, small enough to be attached to the card.

It turns out when data from the chips are represented graphically (as a heatmap), the colors are quite eye catching. This could be included on the back of the card. Any revealing personal info can be omitted, with authenticity confirmed as identical fluorescent images.

Just imagine the possibilities...
"I have a #/10 Crosby sock swatch!".
"Oh yeah, well I have a 1/1 Stamkos jock swatch!"

Nah, just trying to poke fun at the increasing ludicrousness that has entered the hobby.
It would also result in breaking the $10,000 box barrier.

I agree with this thread. I just think that there needs to be a cool factor to the things that are in every product as opposed to them all being the same.

I think that's a fantastic idea, Fleemur12.
However, it wouldn't take long before people whined about whether their biological sample came from a game, or a photo shoot, or if it was just sweat from the ice bath after the game.
I can already see the Panini "Blood, Sweat, and Tears" set (with 1,000 respective parallels of course) where you get an oversized card with all three on it, and a little text bubble and pointer arrow of where on his body it came from.

Self Loathing, mostly.
Seriously though, "hobby slamming" or "open discussion about improvements that can be made" is pretty much the same thing when the internet is involved. I don't think anyone is on this forum because they dislike collecting, but I think we'd all like to see some improvements made.
