I see the print copy as a waste of time. Not really worth the paper it is printed on. Because usually the pricing is out of date by the time it hits shelves.
Take for instance, I was interested in a card that was $25 in my print beckett and value decreasing. Guy who owned it had online version, tells me it is now $100! And this was all within the same month. Crazy how it goes from going down in value to going way up.
I now have online and find it very handy.

I guess I am in the minority.
Been getting it almost non stop since 1995, and I still love it.
Gotta stack of Tuff Stuff's going back that far also. But just stick to Beckett now.

What would be the purpose in keeping the older magazines if the prices are no good? Articles?

That's pretty much the only reason.
As I said before, the prices are not very realistic to begin with.

I am loving the online part of Beckett, great for a estimated value to your collection.

It's all about what you like, and what gives you satisfaction in the hobby. Never used the online price guides myself, but I love their online collectibles lists. Tells me exactly what is out there. Great for player collectors.
If you want to know what cards a player has, that's a great place. Very up to date lists.

I would like to collect a certain player seriously, but it is way to overwhelming for a second year collector lol

You'll notice that most either like beckett or hate beckett. I haven't bought a mag in over 3 years, although my wife got me a sub last x-mas. The only one I buy is the annual and these days they don't list everything anymore.
A lot of people get their info from checkoutmycards as they use beckett pricing data. So if someone sent a particular card you are looking for a value on they would have it listed.

Wait..... The annual does NOT list everything anymore?
I haven't gotten one of those in years.
That was kinda the whole point to the Annual in my opinion.
