Several reports have the Flyers offering both Suter and Parise the most money. Both contracts, were believed to be in the 12-yr - 100-million dollar range.
Both of these guys are B+ players at best - not "A" or even "A+".
Allot of guys have to be thinking, forget signing longterm deals, best to test FA (ie) Malkin, Webber etc.

If Malkin wants to test the UFA market when he is available he will get the max money for 10 plus years. Weber will get the top money for a D-man in the NHL for 10 years. Getzlaf could test the market and would get big money if he can have a rebound year.
The numbers that are reportedly being offered are insane for Parise and Suter. As you said they are B+ players. Maybe A- but not A or A+ ones.

but they might be an A to a team that really needs their skills or to have them be the final piece that they need for a serious run. Parise has shown in the last past years he can be better than a point per game scorer

It is so crazy that all these deals are 10+ years. It is getting out of hand really. Plus how can the Flyers afford this? They have 10M in cap (unless the Pronger deal gives them cap back).

Which it won't. Pronger's on a 35+ contract so the only way it doesn't count is if they maintain him on LTIR.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Minnesota apparently in at $100-million for each of the players as well - Crazy!
Suter has said all along, that he prefers staying in the Midwest, so if the number is true, would have to think that Minnesota and Nashville are still in play.
Parise - who knows? Doubt he wants to play third fiddle in Pittsburgh. I guess we'll see if he signs together with Suter or goes his own way.

Zach Parise is making me insane... please make up your mind already so I can go on with my life.

An annoyed Devils fan

Dude...it's July 2, give him a minute to decide where he's working for the next 10 years or so.
Be happy Marty isn't doing the same.
On the topic of signings, I'm happy with the Canucks signing Garrison and happy that Ebbett is coming back, too.

If the Sedin's were up in this situation you would feel the same way. Marty never had the intention to leave he just wanted the Devils to give him 2 years and once they did he accepted.
