    A couple failures...
    George Taliaferro
First black player drafted by the NFL. Sent my 5x7 back unsiged with a note saying he would sign it for $25 to his favorite charity.

    Willie O'Ree
First black player ever in the NHL. Sent my check for $5 and 8x10 back unsigned with a note that said "Brett: Sorry I can't sign this photo." Weird, may try again with an index card or something.

    And a nice success...
    John "Blue Moon" Odom
Sent four cards and $10 to this two-time All Star and three-time World Series Champ (72, 73, 74 all with the A's). Signature is a little shaky but he did a very nice job signing all four.

    Gene Fullmer
Gene upset the great Sugar Ray Robinson in 1957 to become the World Middleweight Champion. He also beat the great Carmen Basilio (who he is fighting in the photo) and other great fighters of the era. Fullmer is one of the all-time greats.

I sent two copies each of an 8x10 and a 5x7 along with a silver marker. Told him to keep one of each photo. He kept an 8x10, signed the other in silver, and sent back both 5x7s signed. There was also a very nice note that said "Thank you for your kind letter. Gene loves the 8x10. Appreciate it -Fullmer Family".
Wish I had sent this a few months ago when I could have also sent it out to Basilio to sign.

    Steve Young
Happy to have this one come home. Sent an 8x10 to his foundation with a $5 donation. There has been a lot of debate over whether these are authentic or not... I would SWEAR this is 100% absolutely auto-penned. I won't get into the whole breakdown here but I can if people are interested in my analysis. The thing is that all of the autographs from Young ttm seem to be ever so slightly different, so I really can't be sure. I suppose the debate continues...

GoWarrior- I have taken multiple samples through the years of Young's autographs and have layered them in photoshop. They are not autopens. They all have differences. He just has a very consistent signature. Just some input from someone who has done some extensive homework. Nice addition to your collection!

Thanks, appreciate the input! I also thought it was fishy that he won't sign mini helmets, etc ttm... only flat items. But I guess that's just his policy. Everything else seems to add up with the signed thank you letters from his wife and all.

    Phil Simms
Didn't really expect to see this come back. He seems to be a pretty intermittent signer and last time I sent to him he kept my 8x10s. Tried him again and glad I did. Beautiful return from the Giants legend with a terrific inscription that I didn't even ask for! Couldn't be happier with this one.

I recently sent out a whole bunch of cards to former Hartford Whalers players. I grew up in Hartford and the hockey team was a huge part of my childhood so I decided to try to get a bunch of the players TTM. Got two back... one RTS from Brad Shaw and one success.

    Brian Propp
Best known as a Flyers legend (he played in Philly from 79-90) this 5x All Star only played one season in Hartford but scored his 1,000th career goal that year.

Propper signed both my cards plus included two 3x5 photos of his own which he signed with his signature "guffaw" goal celebration. The Whalers one looks like it was awkwardly cut. He also signed an index card which I asked for. He put it all in his own envelope and sent back my SASE unused. Very nice! Also included his business card which has his cell and email on it so I sent him a quick thank you email to which he kindly replied.

Sad to hear we lost Pat Summerall today. Was a big fan of his and got a beautiful 8x10 success from him a couple years ago (see the first page of this thread).

    Adam Vinatieri
He's usually automatic so I thought this was a goner... but it came back after almost four months. Nice 8x10 of Adam kicking the winning field goal of Super Bowl XXXVIII, with the ball just leaving his foot.

    Y.A. Tittle
Happy to get the legendary Giant. I sent two 5x7s of the SI cover and asked him to personalize one to me and one to my brother, which he did, and for the black and white 8x10 to be personalized to me. Love that he used silver on the 8x10. Came out beautifully.

Been quiet for a while, but one for my Whalers project trickled in.

    Randy Ladouceur
16-year veteran of the NHL and one-time captain of the Whalers (during the 91-92 season). Also signed two note cards.

    Bobby Doerr
I sent Bobby three 8x10s. He only signed one. Thankfully it was the one I wanted the most (with Ted Williams) but it's weird because Bobby usually has no problem signing multiples. I'm thinking maybe he didn't see the other two photos underneath.

Here's where it gets even more weird. VERY rarely does Bobby Doerr add his own extras... and he added this 10x6 really beat up, folded, creased print-out on construction paper that looks like someone left it out in the rain for a week, complete with dirt and all. The signature on it is clean and beautiful though. My best guess is that some kid or something sent this to him and it ended up in my envelope. If it looks familiar to you let me know.

Also, he included a card with a new PO Box address on it, so use that one from now on (see TTM manager).

    Jody Hull
Another for the Whalers collection. He was a first round pick (18th overall) in 1987 then bounced around the NHL until 2004. Also signed an index card.

    Dolores Hart
Starred in two movies (Loving You and King Creole) with Elvis Presley, including his first ever on-screen kiss. She walked away from a huge contract and promising career to become a nun which she still is today. Sent three 8x10s and a $10 donation to her abbey. Asked her what Elvis was like in my letter and she very kindly responded on one of the photos. VERY nice inscriptions. I'm a huge Elvis fan and love this return.

He was a sweetheart, Brett, who called me "Miss Dolores" Loving You, Dolores Hart

The kiss that lasted 50 years, Dolores Hart

    Jerry Lee Lewis
The Killer! Almost as important a figure in early rock n roll as Elvis. Signed and personalized 2/3 8x10s in ballpoint pen. Included a note that said "20 - hand written, 10 - stamped." Maybe that's his way of saying he charges in the future? Not sure... still happy to have these.

The Million Dollar Quartet (l-r: Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash)

    Karen Allen
Starred in two Indiana Jones movies: Raiders of The Lost Ark and Kingdom of The Crystal Skull, as well as Animal House and many others. Signed two 8x10s. Her website has very nice and friendly instructions for sending autograph requests.
