For all the grievances I give about the U.S and it's government....I would NEVER want the government to actually shutdown.

And just so some of you understand just how many people are being affected by the nonsense that the GOP is doing....look at all these shutdowns:

    http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2013/...act/index.html

A little stated fact is that those people can still show up to work and after the government is "un"shut-down they will get paid for the time that they were on the job.

Exactly my point. It was passed, but the liberal agenda refused to just accept it as conservatives are supposed to do with Obamacare.

You understand you're comparing DOMA that was ruled UNconstitutional by SCOTUS and Obamacare which was ruled constitutional by the same Supreme court, right?

I mean, surely, you see the difference there, right?

    "Liberal agenda"?

Is that why the conservative Roberts voted against DOMA?

    I guess he's a liberal now.

You do realize that you TOTALLY missed the point, right?

    Which point was that?

Did liberals shutdown the government during all the years that DOMA was a law?

If they did that, then I'll concede my point.

Did the Dems end up getting paid to not show up and say that was exactly what they wanted?

    No?

    Try again.

If the Dem senators and Obama would have agreed to take out congressional subsidies and and delays for employers to make it all even the government would be funded.

    Obama is failing.

Only in your mind and that's all that really matters to you isn't it?

If Republicans could admit this should have ended when the SCOTUS ruling did we wouldn't be having this stupid conversation.
Reps are being condescending and really have no right to be. They're still fighting a war that was lost a few years ago and think this is an accomplishment.

in the end all they asked for (obamacare wise) was to push back the individual mandate for one year, which Obama did for others, just not the average joe. I believe they also asked that congress, their staff and obama not receive subsidies for healthcare.

what is the issue with this?

C'mon Jay, you can't be that naďve. Yeah, lets push back the individual mandate for one more year, then what? 40 more votes to repeal? Attach defunding it to the debt ceiling debate? The Republicans are doing everything in their power to make the ACA fail. They have successfully convinced a large portion of the populace that it is bad, despite the public liking almost every initiative in it. Which actually isn't hard to do when you consider the public's distaste for paying for the benefits of any initiative and their twisted sense of what freedom means.
