Nothing more than NOISE to distract from who and why this shutdown has occurred in the first place.

Pretty Ironic since all this administration has been is noise and distractions........ (as well as slight of hand and deceit).

And let's remember, in the 17 previous government shutdowns, these monuments were not closed.

Although President Obama claims that he can’t avoid shutting down public sites and monuments, war memorials were in fact kept open during the 1995/1996 government shutdowns. The administration’s decision to barricade the Lincoln Memorial marks the first time in its history the memorial has been totally off limits to visitors during a shutdown.

The administration has also balked at efforts by non-governmental groups to maintain access to public sites.

But during the Clinton-era shutdown, World War II veterans kept the Pearl Harbor memorial open.

“Despite the federal government shutdown and an unrepaired sign that reads ‘Arizona Memorial closed,’ tourists are still getting expert commentary about the World War II memorial at Pearl Harbor,” wrote the Associated Press on January 1, 1996.

“It’s our way of helping to preserve the history of this place,” Bob Kinzler, president of the Aloha Chapter of the Pearl Harbor Survivors, told the AP.

Barricades went up in national parks across Washington, D.C. Wednesday, including the Lincoln Memorial. This, too, was unprecedented.

So your theory is to fight the symptoms because they're Democrat and not the actual problem because it's Republican.

    Yeah, you're a total independent...

The fact remains the Republicans were proud to shut down government, and now blame Democrats for everything that has caused.

Really? Obama should allow his signature legislation to be unfunded at the behest of the GOP or face a government shutdown? There is only one party to blame in this. That party knew from the onset that Obama would not defund his own legislation (thereby killing it). They reached far too high, knowing the result and not giving a damn.

That was the first bill to pass the house. The other 3 bills that passed the house had no defunding language in the bill. Nice try though.

    Let's see...

Republicans fight against bill tooth and nail, and fail.
Bill becomes law after scrutiny from SCOTUS.
Republicans vow to get it repealed.
Republicans, over three years, fail miserably.
Republicans vow to shut down government.
    Republicans shut down government.
Republicans blame Democrats for shutting down government, which is obviously horrible for the people.
Republicans claim shut down isn't that bad for the people when the people don't buy their first story.
Republicans scream about the effects of the shut down, which are ruining Americans' lives, but isn't that bad, which is caused by the Democrats, even though it's what the Republicans faought for, which is why it isn't that bad, but the people don't like it which is why the Democrats are at fault but...

All I see the Democrats have done is pass a law. The Republicans have crapped themselves for years and blamed Democrats for the smell.
