I have a question regarding combined shipping. This is the text I put in the description of all my auctions:
"Shipping is $5 worldwide. Combined shipping is possible and will be priced on an individual basis. Cards will be shipped in soft-sleeve, toploader, teambag and bubble envelope."
One buyer wins 5 of my auctions, so I send him an invoice with $10 shipping, which is still $15 cheaper than it would have been if I shipped all the cards individually. He then contacts me:
"Hello!
Tell me something about my lots!
You wrote that shipping is 5$ worldwide. But in invoce I see 10$
Please sent me right invoce
Thanks"
My answer:
"The $5 shipping is the price for one card, since you have bought a lot of several cards, shipping will be higher, as stated in the description of the items sold:
"Combined shipping is possible and will be priced on an individual basis."
This means that combined shipping has to be calculated depending on the number of items bought. The $10 shipping is still cheaper than it would have been if I had charged you $5 for each item. Please contact me with any further questions. Thanks!"
He hasn't responded to my answer, but hasn't opened a case on me either. Am I wrong for charging $10 in this case?

I think that is Fair...I've paid that before...but I've also ran into this same issue where I didn't read description before bidding to look at shipping policy so it's my own fault ad still paid the bill with no complaints

I wouldn't necessarily say you're wrong, but by giving an ambiguous combined shipping policy, you're leaving yourself open for these kinds of arguments.

You have done absolutely nothing wrong. People--let me clarify, SOME people--do not understand that there is more to a shipping and handling charge than the little postage stamp that goes on the envelope. You have to pay for your mailer, your supplies, and your time invested in calculating the shipping cost. Plus factor in that eBay actually TAKES some of the money from your s/h charge for themselves, that's how these things add up. Keep doing what you're doing - just be up-front and honest with people, that's all you can do. We're all only as good as our word.

Siboo, your shipping charges are fine. You could clarify the wording a little bit, but you do state in the very beginning that you will combine shipping. Your buyer read '$5 worldwide' and stopped there. I always read the shipping portion on eBay listings carefully. Many sellers will charge for shipping, and add .25 or .50 for their shipping. Buyers just need to read ALL of the shipping information before bidding.

As a buyer I would have prefered a much clearer description of what the combined shipping cost is. When sellers state an extra $0.50 or whatever the amount is, that makes it easier for me to figure out what my max bid will be. I personally think paying $5 per card for shipping is too much if there is more than one card. I guess my question would be, "Is it reasonable to charge another $5 to gather the four extra cards and put them into the same envelope as the first one?"

I think your shipping terms are fair. There are always going to be bidders who don't read all the terms or are new to eBay. Perhaps in the future you should write in bold something like Shipping for the first card is $5 Worldwide. Then state your combined shipping policy.

I post something similar siboo. In my listings I show shipping prices for Canada and US along with $0.50 for combined shipping. Then I state to please message me for shipping outside of North America. I can't say there's been a problem with it before, but it makes sense that it would be a case by case basis because depending on the card and weight, the cost of shipping can vary quite a bit. I don't sell a lot, but in the past couple of months, I have shipped outside of North America 3 times. 2 of those people contacted me beforehand asking for shipping prices, the other did not contact me but also didn't contact me with any issues about the shipping charge I invoiced them for.

Weight goes up after a certain number of cards. Might need a larger envelope. I can get a single card into a #000 envelope no problem. 5 cards? That's got to be a #0. More loaders, etc.
