I thought that Team Breaks were against Ebay rules. You're complaining about someone not paying for an illegal auction????

It may technically be against ebay rules, but many people like them. Nobody likes a non-paying bidder.

He didnt want to pay because he didnt even know what he was bidding on because he didnt bother reading the description or the title, he was looking for boxes of hockey cards that people were getting rid of which cleary wasnt what i was selling but he admitted to me he didnt bother reading the listing just assumed it was what he wanted.

The Team Break philosophy IS against eBay rules. But because the listing fees and commission for both eBay and their company Paypal, they are willing to overlook their own philosophy at the sake of profit.

Now, as an individual seller. If you were to make a listing that said "$2.00 BIN" Get yours now with nothing really to sell but a bunch of text gibberish, eBay would shut you down as soon as somebody complained because it is a one of, and it's only $2.00.

Now if 40 Sellers ran 75 auctions each, with a "Get Yours Now" with a BIN of $30.00, offering only text gibberish, then eBay might look the other way. With eBay it's all about numbers, that is why when Deadbeat Buyers that win 200 auctions and only pay for 140 of them, eBay is willing to look the other way.

The 3 strikes and you're out, only happens when a buyer is not paying for one specific item and does it 3 times or more. The 3 Strikes and you're out as Deadbeat will never happen when you are winning 50-70 auctions and only paying for half of them and doing this all the time.

eBay loves you, the more auctions you win, they are comfortable that if as a buyer, you bid and win 200 items per month, and only pay for half of them or less, that is a chance they are willing to take, and quite willing to ignore. It's no skin off their noses, as the it is incumbent upon the seller to file for his listing and commission fee refund.

The number of really dumb sellers on eBay that do not file claims on Deadbeat Buyers, is much higher than uncollected lottery winnings anywhere in the USA. It all translates to eBay's profit.

When sellers ignore, only eBay profits.

I had a guy complain to me this morning about my automatic Unpaid Item Assistant sending him a message last night. It's been four days since he paid. I think that's more than enough time considering that I invoiced him less than an hour after the auction ended and then sent a reminder notice after two days.

So it appears that our newest thing is "Young Guns Presales." eBay is currently loaded with Alex Galchenyuk YG listings a full two weeks before the product is even released. I get that the people posting these will be busting cases and all that, and that they are almost certainly going to land copies to sell, but to me this is ridiculous. It's still a bill of goods. It's the latest attempt to get "the first copies" out there on the market while people are buying things at their highest before dozens and dozens of copies start hitting the market. I don't like it.

I had been following a Ryan Kesler Cup 1/1 plate for a few months, the seller wanted $100 BIN or BO. After three 30-day windows I BO'd $60, because that's more than fair for a Kesler plate IMO. I never got a reply. Then it disappeared. Then it popped up as an auction, which I won yesterday for $51...........

So I just got a full refund and a "I'm sorry but I looked all morning and I can't find this card anywhere" explanation.

    Hmph.

Yeah that's ridiculous, Sluggo. I would give him negative feedback for that. I mean, people do misplace cards but sometimes you just know when someone is lying and in that case they deserve the feedback so people will know of his antics.

I misplaced 1 card of the thousands I have sold on eBay. But I didn't misplace it. I sent the card to someone else. I asked him to send the card back, I would refund shipping and I would send him the actual card he bought. His exact words were "I need this card for my collection." And he didn't send the card back, now did he ask for the actual card he purchased. I had to refund the rightful owner of the card because I didn't have it anymore. He gave me neutral feedback, said I had good communication but I sent the card to someone else.

I realize it was my fault, but I have sent a card back to someone who accidentally send me the wrong card. He is a seller with like 20,000 feedback, ComicConnection or something like that, I believe most of you if not all of you have come across this seller before. So I was nice enough to send the card back because I realize if you ship out 100+ packages a week sometimes you send someone the wrong card. I figured someone would repay me the favour one day, it has happened yet.

You meet all sorts of people on eBay, is basically what I'm saying lol

Not new at all. Sellers were doing this last year too (I thought the same thing you did). Not sure about years before that...... but yes: People are trying to cash in on being the "first" and if they're going to bust 5 cases, they should be able to follow through with the deal.

Hey ... it's not only high-volume sellers that it can happen to. I've sold many items on eBay, but this week I had just two items that sold - and after addressing the first box, I realized that I'd put the address for the second item on that box! Fortunately I caught it before sending them out. I was just lucky that the two boxes were different sizes for two different size lots, and that made me say 'wait a minute' while getting the address for the second lot.

It happens. And yes, I've received the wrong card before ... and returned it. It does take all types, and some will keep that card, while others will send it back.
