    Anyone ever had back surgery?

So I have an appointment with a nuro-surgen on the 18th of this month. I know they are talking about fusion of L4-L5 and L5-S1, disk replacement of L4-L5 and L5-S1, and scrapping of all my facet joints form L3-S1 to get the arthritice taken care of. Now my question is has anyone ever had any of these opperations and how did it turn out? I'm only 24 years old and kinda nervous about this. Littarally my military carear hangs on this one nero docs dession to cut me open or not. This will also decide if I can stay in the Marine Corps or if they are going to Medically seperate me. I am married and have a 19 month old daughter so you can see why this makes me uneasy. If anyone has any experience with any of this, either your self or someone you know has had this done, I would like to hear how it went, how long the recovery time is, success rate ect. Believe me any info I can get will help, I am getting more and more jittery as the date gets closer. thanks all and sorry for the rant.

It sounds like a very seriuos intervention but I know you are going to be alright. Plus, you Marines are in really good shape so your body can recover quickly and easier.

If you need something from us, let us know.

you are going to be in my prayers

With all the technological advances in the world today I'm sure your recovery will be speedy and efficient! I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I'm sure later on down the road you'll be glad you went through with it. Who knows, it might eventually give you a few extra years to play with your kids. To a dad, what can be better?

thanks for the thoughts. It's just hard when your kid is getting to the age when you can really play with them and you cant. so hopefully this doesnt take long. ive heard it can take 6months-2 years recovery time. hopefully its sooner rather then later!

I'm sure it will be! It'll be a tough time but hey, what's life without tough times? I know that feeling. You'll make it through! Plus, it'll give you a while to work on your Nolan Ryan/Randy Johnson collections! I have a few Nolan Ryan vintage pieces that I would definitely trade you, if he wasn't one of my favorite players (not to mentioned my first name is Ryan, named after the man himself). Good luck man!
