The media blows everything out of proportion. Jordan's speech was solid and defintely let people know somethings about him we had no clue about. He came across humble but yet confident, nothing wrong with that. He's been one of the most solid on the court & off the court players I've ever seen. Very stand up. You never heard about MJ and drug abuse, rape cases, guns, or anything like that during his career. He just played the game

LMAO!! I guess I am as well, but that really made me laugh!
Anyway, everyone has their problems - noone is perfect - so saying that David Robinson is a great person and Jordan is the complete opposite is pretty unfair, as noone is perfect, nor should anyone be perfect, or even attempt to be perfect, in real life or on the basketball court.

I think Gatorboymike said it well. I do agree with everyone that he's the greatest player, but he's definately not the greatest human being.
I thought the shot at Byron Russell was horrible. As if he doesn't take enough of it as it is, Jordan has to step in a make sure that he takes a little more.

Yeah, but the way the story went, Byron started the jawing when MJ retired for the first time.
I used to love it when MJ would start talking trash to Starks. Starks would completely forget he was playing on a team, and he would try to take MJ 1 on 1 on both ends of the court. Jordan used trash talking through his entire career to his advantage. It was fun to watch... Byron, Starks, Dikembe, and Reggie. Maybe I'm just sadistic, but I couldn't wait for the next morning's edition of Sportcenter. They always had the in-game sound bites and post game meltdowns from opposing players and coaches. They played 5 on 1, and MJ would quietly get his 30-40 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals on the way to a win.

Russell to Jordan: Game on
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slu...yhoo&type=lgns
Important excerpt:
"...Russell said Jordan’s story was accurate and that he was honored, not offended, by his words.
'It was during my rookie year,' Russell said. 'He turned to Karl [Malone] and said, ‘Hey Karl, is that your rookie?’ I really did say that to him. Karl was laughing and [Jordan] was laughing, too. …I guess I motivated him to come back. There had to be other reasons. You know he likes all challenges.'"
I think this makes it quite clear that their relationship is a competitive rivalry, not something demeaning.

I'd have to say the BEST MJ Trash I've ever heard was..
NBA FINALS...Bulls vs Utah. Malone to shoot CRITICAL free throw..and MJ walks up to Malone..and whispers in his ear..
'Hey Karl....you KNOW don't you...the 'Mailman' doesn't deliver on Sunday'.
And..with that..MALONE missed!!!
