So it's ridiculous to put it on the family's tab, but it's ok to put it on my tab? Or anyone else's tab? You do realize this will be paid for by taxpayers...which most likely includes her family, not to mention millions of others who have never even met her. If your girlfriend/wife got pregnant and you didn't want to keep the baby, would you stand on the street corner and ask strangers to give money to help pay for her abortion? I guess it would be ok if there was a government official with you forcing people to donate for it...
Just one of a million other examples of people not taking responsibility for their own actions and expecting everyone else to pay for their mistakes for them.

I 100% agree, you described the situation perfectly.

Taking responsibility for your own actions is one thing - but paying for it by being given a kid you don't want is another completely. You really think the best way to "punish" this girl is to make her have a baby? It's a kid for crying out loud - it shouldn't be used to make an example of her. The kid will definitely take a bigger toll on my pocket than an abortion would - whether it's through WIC, Food Stamps, Doctors checkups, Adoption Agencies, Psychiatric facilities.... I could go on.
And do you think it's fair that ANYONE's problems go on someone else's tab? What about people who wear glasses? Maybe they shouldn't be allowed to have kids. After all, the kids will probably need glasses, which will be paid for with insurance, which once again comes out of all of our pockets. Or like the example I used before - High school football - why should any of us be forced to pay for some dumb kid who wants to go out and play a relatively violent sport only to risk injury. Now, I'm not saying I won't pay for these things - I have no problem paying a bit for some kids glasses, or helping out the high school football star who breaks a collarbone. I'm just saying that if one person deserves complete healthcare, everyone does.

Its called rationing and you better beleive it will happen. Here is a perfect example of a scenario that could arise with your first example. The question will arise about Football. who knows if they will or will not deny coverage, but it wont take long before some outraged citizen brings it up to some loony tune representative. The debate will surely turn to public schools and universities. Will taxpayer dollars be allowed to fund "dangerous Sports" that are a Burden to "Our" Healthcare system? This is how a government Healthcare takeover is really just a government takeover of America. Its not that a takeover is the intent. Its just the natural consequence. They may cover everything and everybody, but how much freedom will they have to take from us to ensure that they/We can afford it?

I don't think she should be "punished"...being punished and taking responsibility for your own actions are two very different things. I know it's a disappearing opinion these days, but I feel if you make a choice, you must deal with the results of that choice. If I decide to get drunk and take a joyride, I'm the one that goes to jail if I get caught...I can't ask everyone in my town to serve a day for me to cover it.
If you're a government employee, I have no problem with the government paying for your insurance. Private companies pay for their employees' insurance all the time, it's a common incentive to attract quality employees. But if you don't work for the government, then no, I don't think it's fair for your problems to be on someone else's tab. Aside from government workers, I agree with you 100%, if one person deserves it, everyone does...but no one deserves it. No one has done anything that makes them deserve money to be forcibly taken from me to pay for them.

I agree on holding people responsible, but how do you make them accountable for raising a child they don't want? The Gov't can't make them keep the child, nor should it. Should there be a payment plan for abortions? People will still have them and stay lousy parents or just put them up for adoption-either way burdens tax payers in the long run.
