Im not sure why everyone is so down on this idea. The chances are if you do pull a auto from this set that it will probably go for more then most other autos in the respective sets.

It is a good point to make, considering Champs has dinosaur cards and fossils which has absolutely nothing to do with sports lol

That's not true. Some of the dinosaur pieces are actually fragments from Owen Nolan's knees.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Excellent point, especially towards the end. When I first read the article, I thought that it was a rather lame idea; however, when you really think about it, how many Bryan McCabe autos can I really pull in one year? If UD Series 2 gives me the option of pulling an olympic figure skater over another Bryan McCabe autograph...I'll take it. Are the cards really going to interfer in a manner that will be detrimental to the product? Absolutely not.

I don't hate this idea. Doesn't interest me personally in the slightest, but like others have said I'm sure plenty of others will. I would imagine autographed versions of these inserts would probably be case hits anyways, so not something that would appear in every box, which would increase the value of these cards quite a bit.

Bryan McCabe and Mike Lundin are officially haunting my dreams....for UDS1 this year, I cracked 4 hobby boxes, and 6 retail tins from Walmart. Got TWO McCabe Jersey cards, TWO Lundin Jersey cards, and a Lundin Signature Sensations

I will probably bust a similar amount of series 2. All I really want is 1 base set, the 50 YGs, and a Messier Heroes set. Whatever else UD can include to give me max value for resale or trade, I'll take it.
I was so tempted to buy Champs last year, becuase of the fossil cards. I couldn't bring myself to do it though, becuase I have absolutly no use for 'mini' cards.
This year? I've convinced myself that I'm buying at least two boxes (will probably wait for the Spring Expo, and get a couple of Priority Signings with them). Why? Fossil cards are back, and I'd also like to put together sets of the Canadian Prime Ministers & American Presidents. I still hate the idea of minis..... and will no doubt trade / sell any that I pull.... but they've included enough 'non-hockey' that I am interest in, that I've decided I do want to break the product.

If I get a Johnny Weir card I am letting my cats eat it!

That should go in Champs as an artifact card. An authentic piece of the pipe would be cool.
Anyway, the idea of the figure skaters in the set is kind of cool. I want to get a Jamie Salé auto. She's a babe.

Wow this is just stupid..........I understand some people might like or enjoy these cards but the majority of us hockey collectors don't want them. Why can't they just make a separate set for figure skaters and not pollute the hockey market with them. I would rather pull a damaged base card of a guy whos played less than one season in the NHL then a card of a figure skater! Just my .02 cents, I won't buy any Series 2 now other than the singles I want off ebay or trades. Ugh this really makes me mad!
