    Only time will tell.....

BTW - how long do you expect before Brodeur retires?

I read that one....but I dont read too much into Eklund...

Its hard to see what Kovy will do...Does he do the 31G/35A in the defensive system or do the Devils let him free hoping for 50....which is against their "system"

One thing I do know is this.....and he talks a little about it here - DL has plan B-M - I have seen the charts and sen what his goals are....its a little fustrating watching during the process but he is building a foundation by building within. So what is plan B? Who knows but I know there is one....

And shortly after the Gagne trade went down I was told the Kings were working on another big-time top 6 forward, and that's why no Gagne. Dean Lombardi has told Helene Elliott he wasn't really considering plan B at this point. Again if that's true then Dean is in trouble here. I don't believe he is, and knowing Dean Lombardi he already has plans B through M in a file somewhere. He is planner, and there is no way he wasn't planning for this possibility.

I hope so for the sake of the Kings and their future "core"

Just as I was reading this thread.
I had a thought, nothing in this post as a "troll" or to "bash" any team.

But you can't call Doughty a "superstar", he is a Defensive-Superstar. There are two kinds, because Doughty cannot do it all. He can score a goal here and there, but he is no Bobby Orr skating from end to end, it could happen back in the 50's but not in the current league.

Plus, give the young man a break, he is a player the Kings need to build around, (which they have done). But he has to prove a little more to me.

And to comment on the original topic, the Kings need to call up the young guns and let the team fly. See how that goes, the veterans will always float around.

Doughty is as close to Bobby Orr as we have in the NHL right now. Green puts up better numbers but he is all offense and no defense.

Orr was great at both ends of the ice. Doughty is the game's best all-around d-man and he's 20. he is as superstar as they come.

All the best, LA will need it.

Get your facts straight I never mentioned Kopitar, you have no clue what your talking about.----------gretky99

    to quote you...

"Kovalchuk would have put LA on the map, they have no superstar to talk about, whats all the hype for Jack Johnson, he really hasn't done alot, Doughty is miles ahead of him in everyway."

you said the Kings don't have a superstar. kopitar is a King. so using simple logic you said kopitar isn't a superstar. how can you deny that?

    talk about no clue...

Kovalchuk-6 seasons in a row with 40 goals or more, with 2 seasons with 50 goals included------That's a SUPERSTAR, no Kopitar is at best a semi star going by these results.
Doughty vs Orr, Orr was 18 years old in the NHL at a time where most players in junior played until 20-21 years old, Orr was so good he could have played in the NHL at 15, I know I grew up with Biobby Orr from junior and upwards, Doughty is good, but theres a BIG BUT, if he was that good he would have won the Norris , BUT he didn't, the fella from the Hawks won it, I'm sure Doughty will win the Norris, but he's young with alot of years ahead of him, so LA beware, sign him long term or you could loose him to a bigger club to free agency down the road.
