Just a couple of suggestions, you actually would be better off eating more.
Eat as much as possible very small amounts of good food.
For example, every hour, an apple here, bannana there, some crackers, piece of cheese etc... and then for the actual meals eat healthy, salad, tuna fish etc... light meals with healthy foods. That will boost your metaboblism and actually make you burn more calories. Also watch what you eat the less red meats the better. And always start slow with the exercise and stretch stretch stretch before and after.
Eating more sounds crazy but what it does is get your body burning calories all the time since the issues you mentioned that will be of huge benifit. Eat more Fruits and Berries those are great as is more fish and less less meat.
Best of luck. And don't take days off from the diet that really is not a good idea if you want to reward yourself with a treat that's one thing but making it a way of life is the only way to stay on it. It will soon become second nature.
Due to health issues I went from being a die hard (no pun) meat eater to a total Vegan in a year. Just after a couple of weeks i couldn't believe how much energy i had just from not eating the red meats. After a month I never missed meats and now it's not even a thought. My way of a treat is a Vegan Burger from Burger King I get one a week. I make and eat them at home, but the fast food ones come with greasy fries....kinda a treat. I in no way am a pro cow or animal person, I used to enjoy game but now I don't even think twice about it. Sure I sit at a table with others eating steak, and I just look at it like something I don't care for anymore which I never thought I'd think.
In short once you stick to what you are doing after a month or so it will become routine and second nature. Best of Luck and Happy and Healthy Living.

This threads has inspired me to do my own 100 pound challenge. Started today, in honor of this thread and Homer Simpsons' quest to work from home, I will try to gain 100 pounds. Instead of making sandwiches with bread, I will use Pop Tarts. Instead of chewing gum I will chew bacon.

Good luck. Consistency is what you want. I weigh myself now every Monday morning the instant i get out of bed, before eating or drinking anything and before hitting the bathroom.

Nice job! It may not seem like much, but a few pounds here and a few pounds there can really add up. Keep it up!

Monday morning, my weigh in time and day.
Down 2 pounds last week. Thats 6 pounds down now in two weeks.
Could have lost more last week but the last few days i had a bug in me so i upped my calories and stopped exercising to beat the bug down.
This was a good milestone for me as it put me under 360, down to 359. Every ten pounds i take as a major milestone. Also, from my heaviest a year-and-a-half ago of 387, i am down 28 pounds.
A long way to go, but heading in the right direction.
