patches are a bad investment every patch has these questions but I would say the Thomas is fake. You can see an indent near one of the raised parts of the patches where it looks like he may shoved the patch under the opening.

jimcozzolino: As long as it say's Jersey "Prime" or "Patch" and if I know your reputable, especially if you trade on here, and have over 50+ Feedback, I'll say it's real until I find out otherwise. Once I find out otherwise, you better believe your reputation on the board will be as suspect as Roger Clemens denial of PED.

Yeah I know. Patches are way too scary for me to buy. Especially foreign and only ebay sellers.

I'll buy from a Card Shop Owner selling on eBay because they have a reputation to uphold.

Some owners just sell stuff for other people. They don't claim it is their cards. And most of the ebay sellers are not store owners. They are just regular like myself. I dump cards in ebay just to get extra $1 or $2 knowing this is the best way for me to get the best money.

I would just say don't overpay any patches. Even if you find out it is a fake patch later, your loss is small. And do research on high end item. $20 buying a fake patch is not as painful as buying a fake patch on Durant Exquisite RC.

like I said before when your not sure try beckett. Beckett can make mistakes too but rather let it be there's then yours. And by the way, about 2 years back beckett cought a dealer with a rating over over 4000 who was pulling the jerseys out and putting in patches. That dealer was cought and convicted of counterfieting. So even a dealer can be suspect. The card was a 2005 prime patches jumbo patch of Albert Pujols.

Also some patches will have creasing at the corners, not because it a fake but because of the way it was put together. Try smelling the card. Most glue's give off a scent. Card company use double sided stickey tape. They usally don't give off any kind of smell.

It has been done before. A card owner in Hong Kong sold for other customers in ebay. Couple patches are totally fake. People emailed back to the owner saying his cards are all fake. The owner had to go to forum and clear everything he sold, and took off all the auctions in ebay.

I can easily sell a fake patch in card show, but the owner with 1,000,000 feedback may not know my card is fake. He then goes into ebay to sell. Most card owners don't even remember what they have in their inventory unless it is expensive. When they sell fake patch, sometimes, they just don't know about it.

Although most of the older gu'd from topps aren't generally prime, I did pull a 3 clr patch of dan marino from the 2002 topps reserve product years ago. It came straight out of the box that way. I also noticed it was one of the painted looking jerseys, not heavy stitching.
It's not usual, but it happens.

Hate to break it to ya, but if you trade that on here, people will say it's a fake patch and you'll get no play for it.

Luckily I'm not looking to trade it, but I think I've now proven that the hobby is overrun with paranoia.
