Dombrowski just had a sound bite released saying they couldnt get him 'over the offensive hump' and that they didnt think 'sending him to AAA did the organization any good' so they traded him for Purcey who Dombrowski claims 'the team has been seeking to get for a long time'

Basically what happened was Dombrowski felt in 200 ABs, they knew the kind of offensive player Sizemore was, but Brandon Inge has 5000 ABs and they still cant understand he is a bad offensive player.

Also from the Dombrowski sound bite, I get this sinking feeling they're gonna trade any good prospects left in the Tigers organization (Turner, Castellanos, Oliver etc) and make a deal for a star player..So if it back fires, not only will that player probably not resign with Detroit, but Dombrowski will have killed the farm system as he doesnt get resigned..I really hope i'm wrong :(

This post sums up my feelings on the deal as well to a tee. The guy gets 206 ABs, many of those on an unhealthy ankle. He's had 63 ABs in 2011, and his production in those 63 ABs was worth the time we put into him bringing him up in the system. That's enough to show him the door?!? Based on what? We continue to pay Maggs, yet he has the frail body of a 60 year old man. Inge is incompetent at the plate, yet he has been with the organization since day 1 in his career, so for some reason we have a problem with cutting ties to him.

I love Leyland's declaration that Raburn is the starting 2B, and his season starts tomorrow...okay Jim, go smoke your Marlboro's. Raburn is hitting .200 and is a horrible defensive player...this experiment won't last long, but then again what other Leyland experiment does? His lineups are so out of whack now, he has no idea what to do.

I too am afraid we are about to gut the farm system, and I have a feeling it will be for Reyes, to move Peralta to 2B full time. Reyes has had injury problems and is finally playing well again. The Mets are losing $ and will try to flip him first because he's damaged goods and they know it. I've also been feeling like maybe DD has another deal either in place or in negotiation already, to pull the trigger making the Sizemore deal. It just doesn't make sense.

I didnt like Sizemore but you give the guy virtually no ABs to prove himself good or bad and just say he's bad, but you trot out Raburn every season and the only time he hits is in the 2nd half when the games are meaningless?

I don't see Peralta moving to 3rd or 2nd base, especially 2nd though, he's never played the position and has earned the right to play shortstop

Sorry but I can't stand to see Avila hitting this low anymore..I'm a huge Boesch mark but Avila and him should be swapping places in the lineup
