Anyways, my best advice would be to read about the players. A lot. Choosing a guy to collect is something so personal. In my opinion, you need to like his style of play, his attitude and everything. If you don't, sooner or later you will drop your collection. Check mock drafts, scouting reports, teams news, and type every player name that interests you on google. You will end up finding the right guy for you. You will feel it.

    Again, my opinion.

    Great opinion.

A great website that I often use for prospect information is Hockey's Future. Here is a link to the Oilers section: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/teams/edmonton_oilers
Just click on any player and you can look at their information and the report that Hockey's Future gave them. You can also view other teams' prospect info by using the HF Quick Navagation drop down at the top of the right column. Once you get used to the site, you will find it very useful.

Some very good advice Pata. Personally I would find it very hard to collect outside of my favorite team though.

Yeah same for me. I don't think I could collect someone who doesn't or hasn't played for my team at least. I know I'd still collect Russell barring a miracle in which he got traded (I think we are several years from that even coming into play).

I'd be careful anyone trying to collect John Moore. I'm already getting the market cornered on that aspect.
