Being a close personal friend of Derrick's, yeah he'd say the same thing in a heartbeat.
Other teams you could easily have games like this for would be Minnesota vs Dallas (Twins ballpark could work), Colorado vs San Jose or some other team (play at Mile High to make things even more interesting with thin air), New York Rangers against the Islanders (either the old OR new Yankee Stadium), Devils vs Capitals (New Meadowlands), and there are a couple other possibilities but I think most of these would be VERY achievable. The problem the NHL has IMO is that all they care about is ratings. While I won't argue that the Crosby vs Ovie matchup is an awesome one, my only complaint is that they didn't give a few other teams the chance to have a Winter Classic before repeating teams. If they did maybe 2-3 more Classic's and THEN wanted the Crosby vs Ovie game or repeating other teams, I'd be alright with it.

Well who knows if what the ticket madness will be like but I already picked up a hotel room for the event. *NOTE anyone looking to get a room ALL Pittsburgh hotels are currently looking for a min of a 3 nites stay. Now currently they do not have a Winter Classic package or a stable New Years in Pittsburgh package. Good luck for anyone attending. Get your reservations now.

Vancouver (is the obvious choice)
But I would like to see some Canadian teams. I know Montreal and Edmonton has played in it before. I think a Toronto/Ottawa game would be good for the fans. But I would really like to see the Avs in there. Just cause of Duchene, and O'Reilly.

I'd love to see some Original Six matchups, Detroit/Chicago was awesome, especially at Wrigley. Too bad they tore down old Tigers Stadium, that'd be sweet to see a Detroit/Toronto Winter Classic, but I'd settle for Comerica Park. I'd also like to see some other teams get a shot at the winter classic before they start repeating teams, but then again, is a minnesota/dallas matchup really going to have the pull of a Chicago/Detroit, Boston/Philly, or Pitt/Wash game? It's all about TV ratings and $$$, that's why you can probably eliminate a lot of the teams in the north as well as those south teams(teams like Minnesota and Columbus, I don't think a non-hockey fan is going to pay much attention to a Columbus/Tampa Bay Winter Classic or something like that, no offense to any Blue Jackets or Lightning fans...)

Warm weather teams can have it. Yes no point, but they can. And it would still be cool. Why can't Washington play NYR, or NYR and NYI, or not Pitt again. I mean maybe in 3-5 years when more teams have done it, but this soon. I am sick of this Ovie/Crosby love fest.

He isn't a homer from what I have seen, and little time I have talked to him.. I am sure he would rather it be 2 teams that haven't done it.

Yes, honestly I would. I would still feel that's unfair to the rest of the league to double up teams so quickly.
P.S - Thanks for the two people who backed me up before I got back to this thread
