Yanksfan, that's not true.... there were less than 50 put out to begin with. Most of those printed were destroyed by the company after Wagner, who was anti-vice, complained. The Gretzky was the only one surviving.

After Wagner complained about being put on a tobacco product, the printing stopped. Most people think that after that, the outcome was around 50 left. But the Gretzky isn't the only known one; infact, there is a known sheet that has five players on it (featuring Wagner; it was found in his coaching jacket). The Gretzky was just the only one recorded as Mint condition. That's what's so special about it... so essentially it could be called the only one surviving IN THAT CONDITION.

bddr-YOU'RE WRONG. I'VE SEEN THREE OF THEM. There are about 50 known in existance. The Gretsky one is the most famous like yanksfan said because it was the only one that was mint after all those years.
yanksfan-Why are you so quick to defend this obvious liar jagrfan?

"My point is, if he were here to con us, wouldn't he bring a card that wouldn't attract as much attention?"
Lol, what card is going to draw more attention from experienced collectors than a t-206 Wagner? I'd take one over a same condition 52 Topps Mantle or 30's Babe Ruth card (whatever his first card year was).
As bdrr said though, there are about 50 Wagners in existence, with Gretzky owning the only known MINT copy (I'm actually very surprised that out of only 50 printed 80+ years ago, any of them are a true Mint condition, but that's another discussion).

Do us all a favor and send the card to a reputable vintage grader (PSA or SGC). If it comes back authentic, I'm sure we'd be happy to split the cost of grading. If it comes back as altered or counterfeit, at least you know what you have.

For one thing, there are multiple Wagners in existance, here are two links that might help:

I'm not defending him, I'm just saying that if he were here to con us, wouldn't he come up with a 200-300 autograph to trade/sell? Truthfully, I could care less if he's lying. The links nevermore has provided prove everything I've been saying about the Wagner.
