    Worst Beckett BV Discrepancies

Many BVs seem okay, but then there are some that do not make any total sense.

Here is a couple I think make the list:
2005-06 UD Young Guns #472 - Barry Tallackson
    * RW that up until the beginning of this season has only played 20 NHL games or so.
2005-06 UD Rookie Threads (only Crosby + Ovechkin remain the same, all others at least double in value since early this year for no reason).
    * greatest change is Phaneuf and Lundqvist GUs are worth more than Ovechkin for no reason. Phaneuf was traded to the Leafs from the Flames for under-producing. Lundqvist couldn't get his team into the playoffs. Ovechkin made the Art Ross somewhat close despite missing 10 games.

Note this is based on the OPG. Just need some input about other major inconsistencies detected besides some sets/subsets never seeing updates since the month after they released for distribution.

There are too many to list. There are so many cards that don't even sell for the low BV then there are some cards that sell more than the high BV.

The Habs Centennial set was the beginning of the end as far as my subscription was concerned. For just about any cards in the auto set I would happily pay "full BV" considering what they were doing on the actual market. I would have really really loved to find a Steve Shutt SP though - they had it listed as a card worth as much as an Ovechkin MVP RC - at BV, considering that it has sold as a BIN twice for over $1000 and the only time a copy went to auction it went for $2500.

The final straw, however, was the initial pricing of 2009-10 Upper Deck 1 YGs. When they posted the values I flipped on them on their forums. They had Tavares posted at $50 HI even though at the time you could not buy one on the Bay for less than $80, and I saw two people at the Halifax card show that weekend pay $100 for them. I think Kane was posted at $5 even though it was selling for 20-25 at the time. My post actually forced them to "re-check" (meaning: do actual research) the values and post accurate listings. I gave them kudos for actually listening to collectors but it showed me that they were attempting to set the market rather than reflect it.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I find that most of the Beckett values for BAP autos from the past few years are always laughably high compared to what they end up selling for.

If Beckett would list realistic prices, nobody would buy packs or boxes or cases of card.
Because if you are pointed too hard at the fact that you are burning money most of the people would reconsider.

I think this whole Beckett-Thing is controlled by the card industry.

The whole Beckett thing is controlled by Beckett. They used to run several card shops themselves. When they would get a glut of certain players, they would make the BV very high so that they could dump the cards onto the market.

Once Beckett Retail dumped the cards, they then lowered the values. I was told that Beckett themselves had millions of Yzerman cards. When Yzerman was lowered down this year, you can bet that Beckett had made thousands of dollars on re-sell dumping them before they lowered them.

There was no reason for rare Yzerman parallels and inserts listed originally at $40.00 to come down to $15.00 because the Pull Ratio on many was insanely high like 1:90 or 1:125 packs.
