Honestly I think you do get better value out of the lower end products, UD 1 and 2 have been the best for me by far in terms of value. Considering you can two boxes of series 1/2 for the same price as one of SPGU and still get at least 4 jerseys and at least a half dozen YGs, it's the better deal for me. Even stuff like OPC and even Score can bring decent returns.

Personally I've never understood why people will rant and rave about how a product doesn't give them their money back year after year, yet they go out and buy that exact same product and then rant and rave about how they didn't get their money back.
But at the same time, they're not in it for the value, they're in it for the thrill of opening a pack or the chance for a big hit.
Why not just have Gretzky quad-patch autos in every box? Oh wait, because then the value would go down!
Why not remove any chance of getting Gretzky quad-patch autos? Oh wait, because the value would go down!
Why not just refrain from buying a box of product you know won't satisfy your particular expectations from a box? Oh wait.... ummm actually I have no reason why it wouldn't make sense to do that.

I've been lucky with the only box I've bought compared to most of the people in here. Got RNH Auto /50 and Pronger By the Letter in the same box. Was really a lucky box to get 2 hits in the same, while some don't get any in few boxes.

I buy this product 1 pack at a time because I feel like if I bought the whole box, I would just break even, but if I can pull the best hit from the box with only 1 or 2 packs paid for, I am ahead.
2 years ago, I bought a total of 7 packs from 4 different boxes. big hits were:
Hedman RC /99
Authentic Fabrics fives PATCHES (Gomez/Vanek/Spezza/Blake/Wheeler) numbered /7
Phil Kessel Spectrum Base /10
Mike Richards Marks of a Nation auto (manufactured letter auto)
3X base jersey cards (Lucic, Stamkos, Kessel)
Last year I bought 5 packs total, hits were:
Tyler Seguin Significant numbers au jsy /19
Phil Kessel Significant numbers au jsy
Rookie exclusives auto Jordan Caron
1 X Base Jersey card (I think it was langenbrunner)
Dual authentic fabrics Gaborik/Hossa
This year, I'm one pack in so far and I've hit a Jordan Eberle Team marks auto /50.
My luck has been very good, but I think if I bought full boxes, I would be breaking even. A hit that sells for $100+ from one pack is a win, from a box that sells for $180, you need a HECK of a hit to justify the cost of admission.

You make a great point. Now that there have been enough breaks of it here and youtube, I can tell that I won't be picking up a box.
However, it still has value for some people. Those who like risk, those who like jerseys and relics more than autos, and those with money to spend.
Single box-no

I don't want any of the old sets back.....I think they should rotate the sets year over year depending on the feedback from the public.......I hate the amount of crap inserts there are in product from extinct product....ie. MVP in UD2. ICE in BD. Bring Black or Trilogy back next year and see how it goes. You've had 2 years to work on a design......stop with all the miniscule cards in the wrong product. If I buy a box of UD2 I want UD2 cards....not OPC....not MVP.....and the other thing. Now there are odds on the cards that have lower odds of pulling?? BRUTAL........I get 2 jersey cards in a box of UD1, BUT I will probably get crap cards because the odds of pulling a decent one have been diminished by UD placing further restrictions/odds on the hits. If you're going to be like this.....number the freaking cards. I'll tell you that UD hockey has dropped to a Class F (1:1000000000) that they're going to see me buying any more hobby boxes from them........

I haven't bought any SPGU this year. I bought one box last year and was not impressed not just with the cards I got but with the overall design of the cards. I think this years cards look worse. If any do catch my eye I will pick up singles but I'd rather save my $200 a box and put it toward a different product.

Personally, I LIKE all the different brands I pull out of UD 2 this year. It's nice to have some variety, and my luck with boxes is terrible anyways. Every pack is a little adventure tho, it's fun!!! I got me a RNH OPC RC, and a MVP David Booth for my PC, and a OPC Retro Sean Courtirioreurerure RC, and THREE NO I'M NOT KIDDING THREE of the same George Parros base card. Fear the 'Stache indeed............

Product stinks plain and simple
This is the worst I've seen I opened two boxes and was
shocked by the waste of scrub jersey cards that shouldn't
have even been produced, how many plain 1 color swatches can
1 product dump, avoid at all costs and save your money for the cup or
