Latest on Luongo
Vancouver Canucks coach Alain Vigneault stirred up the rumor mill late last week when, in an interview with TVA Sports, he said goaltender Roberto Luongo had requested a trade.
“This is what he wants now,” Vigneault said, adding management would act in the club’s best interest while trying to do what’s best for Luongo as well.

I hope he ends up with a good Hockey Club. He has been treated like dirt in Vancouver.
Bieksa aside, How is it Luongo's fault that he plays with pansies? That SC Finals Bullying by the Bruins was blamed on him by Canuck fans. Lol
Now I have suspected for over 35 years that Canuck fans knew less about the game than they let on, their behaviour and blame toward Luongo prove it without any reasonable doubt.
Good Luck to him.

In actuality, hice, that's really not true. Here's what has happened.
Luongo traded to Vancouver, immediately breaks franchise single season wins record - Vancouver fans think, "HOLY CRAP! We actually have a goalie!" - Media pays no attention
Luongo can't get past Chicago - Vancouver fans think, "I hate Chicago" - Media makes fun of Luongo
Luongo gets past Chicago and into the finals - Vancouver fans think, "We have a legitimate contender for once!" - Media vilifies team
Boston defeats Vancouver - City riots - Vancouver fans think, "Luongo needed to steal 1 game in that series and didn't. Schneider is up and coming and looking good. Maybe Luongo isn't "The" goalie who will do it for us - Media blames Luongo and ignores the fact that their losses in the series were entirely a team effort.
Vanouver wins President's Trophy, knocked out in first round - Vancouver fans think, "Our team was in bad shape, but Schneider got the only win and he just looks like the better choice right now." - Media screams "CONTROVERSY! FANS HATE LUONGO! SAY HE LOOKS LIKE A DORK!"
Just because the media reports something as so doesn't make it. The reality is that yes, any goalie is going to be in a fishbowl in Vancouver. Luongo knew that going in and has been re-learning it for years. That doesn't mean the VANCOUVER fans have treated him badly. The fans still like him, but many feel it's time to move on. It's a genuine "Let's still be friends" feeling. The media ignores it, report the opposite, and the NON Vancouver fans read it and believe it. Mark my words, if Luongo does get traded, and it really does look like he will, he will get a standing ovation during his first visit back to Roger's Arena and will be remembered well among Vancouver fans, despite all the talk surrounding him now.

youve gotta be kidding me
lol
luongo hasnt been treated like dirt at all
hes been given every oppurtunity and he fails on all chances
yes the canucks are full of babies, but luongo was never attacked, just stunk in net
i dont think he will be traded, i dont know of many teams who would want to take on his contract, thats a lot of money.

The Leafs.. According to my sources, the trade will be eerily similar to the trade to land him here, in that the Canucks will trade him with a young offensive dman, Gragnani.

one of those rare occasions where we agree. Luongo has had a strong cast of players around him, he can be an elite goalie but the problem is his performances, especially the last few seasons have had him looking like an average goalie in the playoffs. Sv% drops, GAA hikes up, frustration from all of those that know realistically the Canucks were a team that should have won the Cup at least once during the past 3 seasons.
but like you said and I'm sure others will say as well there just really isn't a team out there that will go for that long huge contract for a guy that might have questions either on if his career is in decline or if he has the mental toughness to excel for a new team in the playoffs. All this while taking on a contract of his that will owe him over 50 million left on it

For every bad contract there is a GM willing to pick it up.

If the Leafs were that team of interest, it would be an irony since it was the draft pick that they gave to the Islanders over a decade and a half ago where they selected Luongo for that 4th overall pick...and still mortgaging the future continuously...

Are you kidding me? Do you live in Vancouver?
Even the media here makes fun of how the fans and other media blame him for every loss, every mistake ....... Why would Schneider even want to be a #1 here? He sees what the #1 guy in Vancouver has to deal with.
Right after game 3 vs LA, one of the callers said we should still blame Luongo .... the only Canuck that dressed but never saw the ice .... they quickly hung up on him.
Right after game 5 vs LA, they opened the radio show with, "What are Vancouver fans going to complain about now? Luongo wasnt even in net for the final 3 games of the series ..... but im sure the callers will somehow figure him into this collapse." ..... Sure enough, the common Vancouver fan steps up.
The common Vancouver hockey fan is an idiot .... I would rather not go to games or bars to watch the Canucks play so I dont have to listen to the crap the so called "hockey experts" here in Vancouver say ....
Its those same idiots that "Woo" when we score now, because someone thought we needed some sort of gimmick for the uneducated drunks that attend games ... I sure do hate the common hockey fan

I love this
"Luongo can't get past Chicago "
what about the othe 20 under achieving, spineless, heartless, undermotivated, over paid, lazy, waiting for the other guy to do the dirty work patsies on the roster.
I will never understand why canucks fans , people who should actually know hockey can be so clueless. He probably would have carried the blue jackets to a cup by now if he would have been traded there insted of van.Last edited by dornhoffer; 05-31-2012 at 04:11 AM.
