Do they have to be so much? 9% for every freaking item I sell really. Plus postage and paypal. That barely leaves any net for me. It sucks and you know it.

In the grand scheme of things, it's not that much. They provide a service to you, they keep an absolutely massive website online at all times, and again, you benefit from the mass audience they provide you.
Do I like paying fees? No. However, I sell a lot on ebay and I make substantially more money through ebay post-fee than I would without ebay.

probably right. I am just sour over the massive inflation in the United States because government keeps printing fiat currency. This causes companies like ebay to ramp up fees and we pay it because we have no choice.

Makes sense. No matter where you go, prices are always going up. Things that I buy at the grocery store for $2.99 curiously go up to $3.29 the next week. It's not just the U.S., prices will go up no matter where you are. And much as we hate it, companies have to adapt. Like I said, I don't like it, but I understand it.

There's nothing wrong with complaining about it. If you complain about 9% fees, it keeps them from charging 18% fees. Just don't go overboard with it. They're a business, they are in it to make money. If you really don't like it, go to a competing company that gives you the same global audience... Oh, wait.

If you're looking to profit then you should either quit the hobby or learn to do it better. There are tons of sellers out there and if you don't find a way to vamp up your business then you will be undercut by someone else. I know I used to get mad when I first started selling on eBay when cards went for so little and I didn't know how to ship properly, but soon I realized I could also get cards dirt cheap and my shipping methods and landed me a 4.98 DSR rating with thousands of transactions.
As a Power Seller my total fees are, or were 11.2% total, I haven't really crunched the numbers lately mostly because it no longer concerns me.
If you're worried about inflation there are hedges towards that and they have been around thousands of years.Master List: Hidden Content

Yup, merged it into the main eBay thread.
As for the topic of the conversation...... complaining about fees, really simple: If you don't like eBay, don't use eBay. They're not forcing anyone to pay those fees... those of us that sell there, we're doing it because we want to.
They give you a marketplace you would never be able to access, you're actually getting pretty good value for your buck.

No inventory and no shoppers.. Why go to a place that only has 3-4 cards of a Hall of Famer for sale, all overpriced. Why would I pay $9.99 per month to have NOBODY look at my cards.
COMC, SCF, Ebay are so much better.
