Going to be a lot of upset sellers of .99 cent auctions, been down for 4 hrs now for me.
Had six auctions in queue for tonight, guess I'm saving money.

This is just great. I opened my box of National Treasures on Friday and had sold three of my eleven hits with a BIN and auctioned off the other eight cards. I did a five day auction and they end tonight. I was wondering why I have had a lack of bids today.

A brief rant about non-paying bidders costing me hundreds of $$$

I'm sure this has happened to just about everyone on here, but it just ticks me off since I usually don't drop the kind of money that I have recently.

I purchased an NT case, and without going into details I had a couple nice hits, but nothing huge, and sadly no PC hits. I figured if I was lucky I'd break even after selling everything, which I was happy with. I receive offers on both of my two biggest cards from the break that I think are reasonable and I accept them. About 3 days later other copies of those cards sell on eBay for significantly less than the offers I took. Low and behold, a week passes and I still haven't been paid. Now the prices of those cards have dropped since release and I'm looking at losing out on a combined $400 or so because I've been sitting around waiting for payments that probably won't ever come.

    I guess my questions are:

Without the buyer using a BIN, is there an eBay function that forces a buyer to pay immediately?

Also, has this sort of thing screwed over anyone else before? I feel like there's very little recourse. Yes I get my ebay fees back, but that's little consolation when initial sale prices have fallen so far since release.

Sorry for the rant, but I had to get that off my chest.

Happens to people all the time. Buyer's remorse. Report it on their account and file a non-paying bidder strike on them if they don't pay after a certain time frame.

Never happened to me, but you're right.

This is one of the fundamental problems with eBay's current setup. You used to be able to file a non-paying bidding strike (3, and you're out!)... and leave negative feedback (which could be used by other sellers to block bidders).

Would that prevent what just happened to you? No, but it would create a system where people that play these games wouldn't be able to get away with this kind of stuff as often.

I do not believe that there is any way to require immediate payment, other than through use of BIN.

If your auction ends at midnight, I must remain awake until it ends, so I pay right away? Of course not.

On Best offers.... if you're asking $300, and I offer $250, I can't very well wait around for you to respond.

BIN is the only way it works.
