The seller pays for returns in my experiences.

I would simply explain that it is the wrong card and you would like to return it to get a refund. If he does have the other card see if he can send it. If the card doesn't show up open a claim.

From my experiences on people who over charge on shipping are from sellers who don't package their cards with care and/or they're extremely slow at shipping.

I will leave Neutral Feedback for some of these sellers. The way I see it is you paid for a much quicker service than what was paid for so that is justification for the feedback. Really I only come across maybe 1 in 40-50 sellers who charge $8+ for something they send for $2.50.

So I need to know what you would do in this situation. Ask for a refund and buy another copy for a lot cheaper? Or hope that the seller still has the card I paid for and accept it was a mistake and wait for the correct card to come.
The other thing is, I'll likely have to return the card they sent me, tracked and insured etc which will cost me around $12. Do I have to pay that or does the seller? I always pay it when I'm at fault but I am not sure if that is actual ebay policy.
Thanks for reading. Let me know your thoughts.

If you realize that you overpaid and can get another one cheaper, then I'd say it's an easy call to return the card for a full refund and bide your time until the next one comes along. My experience with the wrong cards being sent is that it's just easier to go the clean refund route instead of worrying about multiple people sending items back, etc.

As far as costs, any time the item arrives "not as described," the seller is responsible for return shipping regardless of their own policies. You should be reimbursed for everything - the cost of the card, the $9 shipping, and whatever it costs to send back.

Looks like I need to pay attention to the decoy cards I ship out. Got this message from somebody.

"cards are fine, but didn't appreciate corey crawford showing up in the package. quite offensive. not sure the reason for this."

So you sold a Tampa Bay card then I take it?

I almost always put in similar cards (team, player) when sending decoys.

But I also wouldn't take offense if someone sent me a Lucic or Marchand as a decoy lol

Minnesota Wild cards. I used to throw similar stuff in but now I just randomly pull base cards.

    eBay Group Breakers

I was looking at group breaks sold on eBay and noticed something strange. Instead of directly selling spots in the break, most breakers sell a business card, some photographs or whatnot and include, as a "bonus", a spot in said break. It seems fishy to me, but on the other hand, most look like legit breakers and some are authorized Upper Deck Group Breakers. So, what am I missing here? What's the point of selling spots this way?
