But again, Conacher was a player that switched teams in-season (via the waiver wire) so I can see why they did that with him.

This is why I am not a team collector LOL.
I just think that, in situations where two groups of rookies overlap, companies should be true to who the prior year's players started their career with and not clumping them up and putting them with the team they are now.
Brunner started with Detroit. That's where his rookie card should be. He was never a rookie with New Jersey. He went to New Jersey for his second season. Showing him as a New Jersey player and classifying it as his 'rookie card' is wrong, regardless of whether Wings fans would collect it or not.

This^
Brunners rookie year was with Detroit end of story, why New Jersey fans would want a Brunner New Jersey rookie card is beyond me as he was never a rookie in New Jersey. I don't even know how the companies can make a rookie card with him in Devils gear when he was never a Devils rookie. That said I do still actively look for Brunner Rookies in Wings uni, just picked up an SPX retro auto 2 weeks ago and still looking for a couple of Prizm Parallels.

Your understanding doesnt make sense. So what if fasth or conacher got traded. They still went to a different team. Same with brunner. Just not traded. Therefore all people who start out should just have a one team rookie card. Doesnt matter how you get to another team. Personally all the rookies that appeared last year and going to lose value in there sp authentic cards because they are not true rookies. Conacher, galchenyuk, yakupov, huberdeau. None of those peoples rookies held value because ud included them in last years artifacts and ud and another set. The only rookies that will hold value are people that appeares this year. Mackinnon palat gelinas merill etc..

I could be wrong but I think the guy is trying to say that rookies like Fasth and Conacher were traded during their rookie year and actualy played games for the new team during their rookie year. So he is ok with them being in either uniform but not with players who played their first year (rookie year) with one team and then moved to a new team for the 2013-14 season and never played for them during their rookie year.

Brunner moved in the off-season after his rookie year. Had he moved during his rookie year, I would have no issue with him being shown as a Devils player. They should have had two sets of rookies - one honoring the previous year's rookies in their original team and one for this year's rookies. Problem solved.
If some cards lose value as you suggest, that's good for me. It will be easier to acquire them :)
