when i was a child the acid rain was so harsh it was melting trees in n.j. and you couldnt see l.a.
north american has done a great job of cleaning up the industrial revolution
the trees grown in n.j. and you can see l.a.

so i dont see the big deal with "save the earth" stuff,it seems to be doing just fine for a slightly warm rock flying through space

I'm always baffled why people wouldn't want to have a cleaner planet. I get that we don't want wasteful programs that use tax payers money or fill the pockets of corporations in exchange for filling campaign funds, but if measures make sense then why not put them in place whether it be restrictions or improving industry standards. It's obvious that humans have an effect on the planet. We should try to minimize that as much as we can. It's sad that it's become so politicized.

I've never really seen proponents of Climate Change as it being an everyone panic now things like movies like Dead Impact do. Taking action now to reduce the human impact is not the same things as panic, we are all going to die. I'm sure there are some on that side that may have done some fear mongering but the majority I've heard from are not doing that.

There needs to always be a balance for the cost of meeting the next environmental target. Take engines for trucks and construction equipment. Over the past 12 years the engines have gone through multiple steps to reduce emissions. The latest Tier Engines will have the exhaust be nearly as clean as the air that they intake. This is all well and good, but the cost of the engine for a small to medium construction machine will go up by $10,000. The end user gets little or no benefit from this upgrade, but the additional cost to him/her is no small deal. Other regions of the world (including China) do not have the same emissions requirements. The good news is that any engine used in the US (no matter where it is manufactured) must meet the same requirements.
