3. All-time leader in rushing yards by a QB, and T-5th in Rushing TDs by a QB
Unfortunately, he had no '91 season due to Green Bay's Bryce Paup falling into his legs in the first game of the season. He also played only 4 games in '93.

I think Young and Montana are overrated, still great quarterbacks though. I also believe that Michael Irvin could been mentioned as the best receiver ever had Emmitt not been in the picture. Emmitt took alot of yards away from both Aikman and Irvin. I dont remember Rice ever having a great running back to take yards away from him. Dont get me wrong, Rice is one of the best if not THE best, but Irvin is underrated and would have been considered the best had Emmitt not taken away alot of yards and TD's. I just think that people look at stats way too much when talking about the HOF. Look at the accomplishments. Aikman took the team to three Super Bowls in four years (Would have been four rings in a row, but the 49'ers beat them in the NFC Championship). No matter how good your team is, and the Cowboys were very good, you have to have a great quarterback to achieve that.

Three MVP awards (only one fewer than Marino, Montana, and Elway combined) and the all-time mark for rush yards by a QB have to make up for some of the lack of total passing stats. Cunningham was the most dangerous offensive weapon in the league during his prime years of '88 and on. No greatest receiver of all time; no greatest rusher of all time.
Did you know his career-long punt was 91 yards? His 80-yarder five seasons later goes forgotten.
I don't think he should go in on stats alone; he's not Warren Moon. But, I think his dominance in the league in the late '80's as well as the multi-dimensional threat he brought to the position makes him a decent candidate. Hopefully, the selection committee thinks so too.

if you dont want to put him in on stats alone, then he definately doesn't deserve it!! all he has going for him are GOOD stats!! nothing in the postseason at all!! the fact that you have to throw out those lame punts isn't helping your cause!!
aikman, there was also ricky waters!!
1992 1013 rush 405 rec 1418 total yards
1993 950 rush 326 rec 1276 total yards
1994 877 rush 719 rec 1596 total yards

Proudestmonkey- Good point. Didnt realize Craig was that good. But that is only four out of 19 years, five if you count 1985 when he did rush AND receive for over 1000 yards. And Waters was only three out of 19, for a combined 8 out of 19 years. Aikman had Smith his entire career, and Irvin had Smith all but one year.
Also, Craig and Waters dont quite equal up to the all-time leading rusher in NFL history.
